Kane Hudson this, Kane Hudson that.
Even I am tired of hearing my name on every paper. It has gotten too much for me, I thought to myself before flinging the paper in my hand away from my side.
I sat right at my table and began looking through the files, letters and document my assistant, Mary placed on my table. A lot of people think being a CEO is no hassle, trust me, it’s a great deal of time and commitment.
But not that I’m complaining or anything, it’s not like I have other things doing outside of work. I finished going through all the papers and documents when my best friend barged into my office.
“I knew I’d find you here. This is literally the only place you’d be” Jamal Payne, my best bud said. Jamal Payne. Everybody knows him as Jamal the famous singer and all town playboy. I’ve known Jamal before he even thought of getting into music, we’ve been close since ninth grade and he has been an absolute pain in my behind ever since.
I rolled my eyes and adjusted my cufflinks “Well some people have to work to pay the bills. All you do is write songs, sing them and fuck girls”
“Shut up. That is not all I do” he defended himself but him and I both knew the truth.
“Then why are you in my office every bloody second” I said with a straight face as I watched him stretch his legs on my table.
He placed his hands at the back of his head “Come on, I’m just here to give you, you know moral support”
“For what Jamal. This is my company; I don’t need such”
“Yeah yeah whatever” he dismissed.
I took off my suit jacket then unbuttoned the first two buttons of my dress shirt. “I so do not envy you”
I rose my brow in question “Meaning?”
“Bro you’ve got everything, you’ve got the life and here you are, wasting it to be in your office all day long when you have people doing so much work already”
I shook my head before taking my seat again “Dude, you of all people should know that I’m not playing here”
“Yes sir” he mock saluted and I shot him a side eye.
“Anyways, I have this event to be at. Want to tag along?” he offered but I shook my head. I knew how that event would turn out. With him getting some girls dancing and shaking stuff on my body. Heck no
“I’ll pass”
He chuckled “So uptight” he said before he closed his eyes and began humming one of his new singles.
Every day I wondered how we kept up with each other because we polar in character. When I walk into any room, I’m mostly feared than greeted, everyone just stares like I’m some mystifying being but as for Jamal, giving his profession, he is more celebrated than ignored or feared. But I guess what makes us friends I guess.
“By the way, where were you after you left me last night at the party” I looked up to see his eyes on me. he looked at me with a smirk “Oh no, never mind I don’t wish to know anything again” I hastily said which caused him to laugh.
“What can I say, the ladies just love all of this” he said, gesturing to himself.
I leaned back “At this point, no one would want to marry you”
“Look who’s talking “he retorted and I smiled. He got me there.
“I’ll settle down when you finally decide to have a girlfriend” I declared and we immediately looked at each other.
“Which is never” He said before we both burst out in laughter.
