Just like every other day in Lagos,it was a bright sunny Monday morning. The weather was unbelievably hot as rain had refused to fall. Bus drivers and their conductors were busy shouting on top of their voices, calling on passengers to board their rickety buses, along idumota Road,Lagos, one of the busiest cities in Nigeria. The absence of a traffic warden around the area, made movement of vehicles impossible. Traffic started to build up at an alarming rate.
Rina,an 18 year old who due to some certain ups and down had been working her ass off since morning, running around with her container of goods, skimming through the long traffic,in search of people that might patronise her petty business so she could be able to pay off their outstanding rent which had increased drastically in the last 5months,with their landlord always on their neck to pay off their rent. Finally, luck shone on her side as she was able to catch the interest of one of the many flashy cars that were piled up on the road. She was busy displaying her goods to the interested buyer, when her twin sister Lara, who was also selling her own goods at the other side of the road, sighted one of her numerous customers who had been owing her for a very long time and had refused to pay. As she quickly made to run to the other side of the road,to apprehend the debtor, she got hit by one of the impatient drivers that were in a haste to escape the traffic as it seemed to have reduced a bit.
Immediately the crowd saw this, they all rushed to the scene. Some started taking pictures of the victim while some were busy making videos that they would upload to their social media so they would gain more viewers and followers, instead of reaching out to help the victim. Rina,on seeing this quickly rushed to the scene and upon seeing her sister's pitiable condition bursted into tears.
At the time this was happening, the owner of the very flashy car had walked out of the car,to go see who he had knocked down. The small crowd started whispering as he got close to the scene. Some girls started, gawking shamelessly at him. He was a very handsome man who looked like he was in his early twenties. He was more like a walking Greek god and coupled with his wealthy appearance,he looked more handsome.
"Let's get her to the car please,am really sorry for this. I was just cut up with a lot of things that i didn't even notice someone was on the road". His deep baritone voice came out very soft. Rina finally looked up to him and her breath was instantly taken away.
Damn! Is he human? She thought to herself but instantly came back to her senses when she remembered he had put her sister in this condition.
"You were cut up with a lot of things on your head to the extent you had to hit someone. If you knew you weren't in your right sense of mind then why didn't you just stay at home, why did you come out, why! Now look what you did to my sister". She yelled at the handsome stranger, her eyes beginning to water as she stared at her sister who was laying unconscious on the tarred road.
He instantly felt pity for her and badly wanted to apologise to her until he was convinced she had forgiven him but then,he knew that they needed to get the poor girl to the hospital before she bleeds out.
Not responding to her,he bent down and carried the young girl in a bridal style then walked towards the car, once he had gotten to his car,he used his other hand to open the car then gently placed her in back seat before rushing to the driver's side of the car,but before that,he helped a fuming Rina to get settled on the passenger's sit. After they had both gotten into the car,he started the ignition and the car roared to life,he took a quick glance at Rina before he moved the car and it was only then,he realised how pretty she was.
