I woke up to the constant blaring of my alarm, damn it's another Monday. I don't really like Mondays but I still had to get up and prepare for school.
I took a quick shower and sat down at my dresser to dry my wavy brown waist-length hair, it's starting to become a handful but who wouldn't like long hair. After drying and putting it in a high ponytail, I dressed in a pair of denim jeans and a white hoodie going along with a pair of white sneakers that my mom got me. my heart sunk as I remember my mom, she is the best mom anyone could ask for but she made wrong choices in life one of them being my dad. he left her when she was pregnant and she could barely hold up, she manages to raise me the best way she can but the heartache she felt led her to drugs and now she is admitted into a facility.
I ran down to the living room and brew myself some coffee while waiting for my best friend to come to pick me up. Kayla is truly a great friend she was there for me when I met my mom passed out from overdose I don't know what I would have done if she wasn't there. Her horn blaring pulled me out of my tranced.
"Good morning Kay; I greeted her as I open her car door and sit.
"Did you sleep well my baby; she asked sarcastically.
oh, very well momma I replied with the same tone as hers while handing her a cup of coffee.
you are such a darling baby; kay cooed.
now stop with the baby shit and let's get going before you made us into latecomers.
"don't worry your ass pretty girl, Kayla Havana is here to save your day; she chanted happily". I can't believe am friends with this idiot but as they say, opposites attract, she is more outgoing and confident than me, she is hot and show it off but her only problem is she hates studying, I have to force her sometimes to do her homework but I don't blame her she has had everything serve to her on a platter of gold. her parents are well off and she is their only daughter, sometimes I wonder how we became friends as she is popular and well me, am just me.
"she pulled up in our school driveway and we both alighted. she keeps ranting on and on about what her younger brother did to annoy her this morning and I can't help but laugh at her, she can get irritated easily but she still loves her brother a lot.
"kay, you know you love him nonetheless; I said trying to calm her down
"oh, God so helps me am going to split his skull open one of these days; she replied sounding irritated I presume whatever Jason did to her this morning was annoying but I wish I had a kid brother too.
"the first bell rang and we went to our first class, it was English and we have an essay due for submission. I submitted both mine and kay since she left hers at my place on Saturday. the day went by so quickly and soon it's the closing period and working period for me. I work after school hours as a babysitter and housekeeper and it's a really good job, I get paid well and even git some food along the way. I still have a long way to go in paying off my mom's debts to the drug dealers plus her facility bills it's a lot but I had to get through it if I want to have a peaceful college life.
"I arrived at the house I was supposed to be working today and it's a pretty good house.
"Good afternoon Mrs. Simon; I greeted the middle-aged woman with a smile.
"Oh thank God Amelia you're here, those little brats are being a handful and I have an appointment due in 30minutes, she sounds so relieved.
"No, worries Mrs. Simon, am here now you can go ahead.
"you are such a lifesaver, she held my hands dramatically and I can't help but laugh at her, kids can be little devils sometimes.
she pointed out things the kids should do and when she would be back. I started working instantly so I can finish on time and work on my homework while waiting for Mrs. Simon to return. she is one of the few good ones among people I work with, while some just treat you like your life is like trash.
