CHAPTER 1

|1st January 1953|

A convergence of twilight beams gleamed across the earth in the earliest hours of the day before the sun rose from the East and set in the long awaiting western region of the earth.

The birds sang songs of victory across our old tin roof, it was a new year in Deadwood City.

On my wool cushion bed, I was dizzied by the melodious chuckles of the birds and the occasional yells of the cows on the ranch.

A creaking sound at our door front brought me back to the real world, could it be my Master, Alexander?, I was conscious of the witches though.

Our old tin roof was made up of strong wooden planks which aligned Into regular steps from the bottom to the top of the door and hardened tin. It was gifted with grassy plains which look dramatically amazing whenever a glittering morning dew lit up on them.

It was located in an idyllic center of the old west cities, undisturbed by others and almost completely quiet.

I tore my dim eyes open straight to the metallic stands in front of me, it was a place where our weapons were hung, and we were fully prepared for the bloodsuckers.

I stood up quickly and gazed treacherously towards the window as I yawn lazily but smiled when the beautiful rainbow rays that shone through my window greeted me.

Alexander was the person that moved out of the old tin roof a few minutes ago after the circadian rhythms of the roosters echoed across the loftiest hills of cowboys City.

In Alexander's hand was a wooden axe gyrating forth and back as he swung his hand and peered at the soft rays in the sky.

He dashed the wooden axe in his hand to the air to make fists. It was usual for him whenever he was happy and of course, I stood at the window brim and blushed at his unique fists and impressive dexterity.

Leaning closer to the window with my hands tightly clasped to my jaw, the little falcon bird struck my pointed nose with its beak and interrupted my sight.

It was my close friend because it follows me everywhere I go. I threw my hand to the air, aiming at the bird but it dodged my hand not until the third trial before I could catch it.

I touched its head softly and randomly but dashed it to the air when its eyes were closing, it seemed it enjoyed the soft touch, my little friend may be so quick to sleep at times.

Alexander was a witch trailer who has fought many victorious battles in the Eastwood and had a lot of memorable experiences with his friends, the Dreamer cowboys. He was from the bloodline of Abraham Lincoln, and also a prodigy with unique possessions.

I wore my bandana and descended the wooden stairs to meet my master at the field mind you, I was not going there to scream like Alexander but to fetch some milk from the biggest cow on the ranch. Was I lazy? The last time I joined my master in the field I almost gave up the ghost, fuck cowboy, fuck Alexander.

My Master screamed aggressively as usual while he was making unique fists with his axe. He couldn't see me coming yet.

"Oh, the little boy is awake" Alexander turned at me with a smile and said. He loves Calling me a little boy even when I was in my early 30s.

Humm! Alexander grunted and looked at my face with wide eyes.

I quickly looked at my body maybe I could find what he was staring at.

He kept a gaze at my beards and moved in webbed footsteps toward me. I straightened my spine and crinkled my nose when his hands hovered my beards.

"It will be easy for a cowboy to catch a wizard in his territory," he said and nodded his head in disguise.

I was thinking of what he just said not until I saw him taking away strands of falcon feathers from my beards. I peeped as I rolled my sclera a bit downward and laughed. Little falcon's feathers must have fallen to my beards when I was aiming at it at the window brim.

"So?" I held the tip of his finger and raised brows, and whispered.

"So, you Should be sealed like the dragon witch," Alexander said while he pursued me around like a baby duckling following its mother to the river.

I ran all about the plain ground and got happier as my eyes captured memorable moments of the sun setting over the lake and its dazzling strokes on the mountains.

For some time now, Deadwood City was free from the witches and the Halloweens. The old west cities wouldn't have been peaceful if not for Alexander and his remaining dreamer cowboys who fought the last zombies and Halloween outbreaks.

I haven't fought any battle alongside my master before and I never hope to fight one. The last time I saw zombies and experienced the witches attacks was eight years ago, I pray not to see those hungry dead again.
