PEOPLE may think of leaving you to all possible places you could think of yet the most unthinkable and worst maybe was leaving you in front of the altar.

Wedding altar.

It was worse than people leaving you hanging. It was worse than being stood up. It was worse than a failed meet up on 9 AM and the person you’re meeting arrived at 12 noon.

If only THAT person came and said ‘sorry’ then used the ‘Filipino Time’ as an excuse but that was never the case.

Everything was ready. Everything. In a snap, that everything was wasted. She didn’t care about the money. She could work back all the wasted money within few months only. She didn’t have to work hard to earn that again because she’s rich and her family was so damn rich. The thing she couldn’t put back into one piece was her broken heart. Her heart which was trampled on. Her heart which was like a trash left to rot.

“Miss?”

She chose not to notice the voice. In fact, she decided not to notice anybody. Most of all, if this person would keep on bothering her, she would not only notice him but she would possibly hit him because he could not understand that she wanted to be alone.

“Miss –”

She screamed and threw her wedding bouquet at him. The bouquet hit his face and he was taken aback.

“Shut up! Get out of here or else I’ll kill you!” she yelled.

“But Miss –”

“One more word and I will crucify you on the cross!” she warned and her Secretary retreated even more. Like usual, he retreated few meters away from her.

She was silent and went back sulking.

They said that that place could give anyone the peace of mind but instead of peace, why did she keep on thinking of killing someone? There’s one particular person she wanted to chop into pieces. One person that she wanted to kill and she had been killing in her mind since earlier.

“Secretary?”

“Yes, Miss?”

“What sin is heavier, cheating or swearing?”

“Huh? Ah… there’s no heavier or lighter sin, Miss.”

She bitterly smiled while tears were streaming from her eyes. “Is that so? For you, what’s worse then: swearing or killing?”

“Huh?” she was sure that her secretary’s face paled due to the brutality of her questions. “Killing is worse. It’s against the Ten Commandments.”

She stood and dusted off the skirt of her wedding gown then wiped her tears. Her wedding gown was so expensive and it was a made-t-order from Paris by a famous designer but it was all not important anymore.

“What a waste. I would really like to kill him.”

“Miss, don’t. You will be imprisoned. It’s a sin against God to kill someone.”

“I won’t be the one to do it. I would order somebody.”

“That’s basically the same.”

“Secretary, contact the nearest assassin,” she ordered him. He kept on shaking his head. “You won’t do it? Fine! I’ll be the look for a killer!”

“Miss, please be calm. Let’s just go home.”

“I won’t go home not until I could kill that…” and she released a litany of all the profanities she knew. From A to Z, English or Filipino and unabridged version.

“Miss, stop it. We’re in a church!” he was outraged but still trying to stop her.

“Church?” due to intense anger she began to weep again but she immediately wiped off her tears. “Of all places… of all time…” her tears started to fall again. “What kind of eyes are these? Can’t you stop crying?”

The secretary held up a handkerchief towards her but she pushed his hand away. She took off her veil and tossed it somewhere. She noticed the bouquet in the hands of the secretary so she took it and trampled on it. She was imagining the face of her shameless groom while doing it.

“I caught the wedding bouquet of my friend last year and they said I’ll be the next bride. I was indeed the bride. I was supposed to be married but… it was all gone!” she cried. After crushing the flowers, she marched in the same aisle she marched onto towards her supposedly ‘road to forever’ earlier but this time, she’s marching away from it.

“Miss, are we going home?”

“Who’s going home?”

“Where are we going?” he asked. Of course he knew that she would take him with her and like usual, he won’t do anything but to accompany her anywhere she liked, even in hell!

“I’m going to look for an assassin.”

“Miss, please…”

“If you want to go then go! Just leave me!” she yelled at him again.

He was astonished then shook his head. “I won’t leave you, Miss. I can’t leave you alone at this time,” he said and a mix of sadness and pity were all over his face.

She looked at him coldly.

“I don’t need your pity. All I need is to kill that guy so that I will be relieved from the pain he caused me,” she strongly declared then continued her way out from the church. She would do it alone if she needed to.

Unsurprisingly, she felt her secretary following her and she felt a little relieve. This was the lowest time of her life and it’s a little comforting to know that she’s not totally alone.
