PROLOGUE
Year 1992 Paris, France
Young Alexander heard a sound, as if something was broken.
He went to the master's bedroom where the sound came from.
He saw that the door was slightly opened, he didn't mean to eavesdrop but he heard his mother crying.
He slowly opened the door wider, and there he saw Suzanne, his mother.
She was kneeling on the floor, while holding his father's trouser. Her tears were coming down to her face.
"Oh! please Jacob, I will give you a child, just don't leave us." Her voice was pleading, she looked helpless, her tears were running down to her beautiful face.
"I waited long enough Suzanne! But you can't give me a child!" Jacob St.Clair walking inside the room back and forth.
His eyes were full of hatred and anger for his mother. He suddenly stopped, and faced her mother.
He was now holding her face tightly, she whimpered with his tight grip.
"I made my decision, if you can't give me a child, my lawyer shall see you to sign the divorce paper." His voice was very cold.
Suzanne cried even more, "but we have a son, Alexander is here with us, to complete our family."
She stood up and held her husband's arm.
"He's not my child! He was just an orphaned boy you adopted!" He is now pointing his forefinger to Suzane's face.
Alexander cried for what he heard, so he was just adopted, that's why his father never showed his affection towards him.
It was only his mother who truly loved him.
After seeing how his mother loves and serves his father, he will only give her so much pain and heartache.
His mother told him that love can cover everything. Whenever he asked her why she still loves his father in spite of his cold treatment towards her.
She only gave him one answer, "Because I love him, and my love for him can cover every wrong doings he might do," she said, while smiling tenderly at him.
But now, her love for him was the reason why she was hurt like hell.
Love doesn't exist! It was just a fantasy, created by fools. His young mind was now full of remorse for his father, for hurting his beloved mother.
And when he grows up, he will make sure that love can't fool him!
CHAPTER 1
Her alarm clock made a cuckoo's sound, Serene's hand reached for it and turned it off. It was five o' clock in the morning.
She grabbed her bath towel and headed for the bathroom, she had many things to do.
After taking a shower, she went to the kitchen and prepared coffee, using their old coffee maker.
Her parents are still sleeping. She went outside, and headed to their barn, she get some hay and gave it to their horses.
It was 6 o'clock in the morning when her cousin Jennifer visited her.
"Is it true that an early bird gets an early worm," she said, while giving her a sweet smile.
"Of course it is! Why did you come here this early?" She faces her while washing her hands.
"I told you, I will return to New York the day after tomorrow." She paused, before she continued, "I wanna know if you're coming with me." She is now grinning, she looked so beautiful, her green eyes were dancing like stars.
She worked as a part time model in New York, and kept on bugging her to join her trip on that day.
"I'm thinking about dad, he became sickly these past few days. I'd like to come, but I don't know how to ask their permission."
"Oh come on! Uncle Sebastian already said yes!"
Serene's eyes grow bigger.
"Really? Is it fine with him?" She asked excitedly, she wanted to go to New York, the biggest city in the world.
She wanted to try city life, and how to live a fast paced life.
"Yes! Even aunt Leticia agreed with him, when I talked to them yesterday."
She ran to their house, and saw her parents sitting on a dining table, together with her younger brother Simon.
She hugged her parents tightly, and kissed them.
They were just smiling at her, but
she saw sadness in their faces.
"Thank you mom, thank you dad," she said while crying, her heart felt sad all of a sudden. As if her heart was being squeezed, she tried to suppress her feelings, but her tears fell down.
This will be her first time being apart from her parents. She felt a sudden jolt in her heart, that almost made her hard to breath.
"Take care of yourself sweetie," her mom told her. "We wouldn't be there to rescue," then she smiled tenderly. Her mother is the best mom in the whole world.
Suzane kissed her forehead. While Sebastian Ortiz was so silent, she noticed how he wiped his tears on his cheek. She don't want to leave them, but she has no choice.
She will work hard so their family will survive . She will definitely do anything in her power to help her family. She will now going in New York to find a greener pastures.
She is looking forward for a more brighter future for her, and for her family.
"I'll be back soon Mom, dad ," she said.
