On the first day of resumption from the one week mid semester break, Rahama dressed up in her black skirt and snow-white top. Her feet in white coloured stockings worn into a black leather shoes, well illuminated by shoe polish. She picked a red tag and attached to the top of her breast pocket and sighed at her own reflection  in the standing mirror.

A typical light skin coloured girl with a sort of bulging eyes decorated with lengthy eyelashes underneath a curvy eyebrows. She had the 'thin' nose and a pair of sweet-looking lips.

When she was done spraying her strawberry perfume, she quickly picked her golden coloured bag and hung it on her right hand shoulder, using her right hand to hold the rope midway.

"Rahama, won't you have your breakfast before you go?" asked her mom, a middle aged widow who happened to have only Rahama as a child.

"Mom, don't worry. You know I don't really like Macaroni. I'll somehow branch to a cereal shop within the campus and have corn flakes before I proceed for lectures."

"Alright then, but you'll need to have your meals regularly. You be a good girl out there okay! Now, go to school."

"Alright mom. Bye!"

After dropping at the University of Jos entrance, many onlookers saw a need to divert their sight to the figure making its way into the campus. Rahama almost missed her step and tripped, she hate to be looked at as she walk but her sensational features would always attract as many looks as she walk.

"Fine girl, can I see your ID Card?" the security man at the entrance flattered in his usual manner.

When she was half way to the lectures theatre, she recalled she needed to eat some breakfast before going for the lectures therefore, she took a u-turn but unfortunately bumped into someone who happened to be trailing behind her.

"Oh, I'm so sorry sir. I'm really sorry," she said as she carefully removed her hands from his pot-belly and drew back. He was a dark skinned man probably in his late forties. Rather than pick any offense, he smiled and said, "go girl, don't be late for your lectures."

In the lectures theatre, Rahama sat at the front seat as usual and there was a debate in Constitutional Law on the topic, "The Non Justiciability of the Chapter Two of the Nigerian Constitution is a Lacuna in its Legal System." She enjoyed paying attention as her course mates appeared in their black and white dressings, raising valid points for the sides they supported. That was the first time she wouldn't join a debate in her own class and her abstinence amazed everybody.

After classes were over, she met her best friend, Alesha and together, they started to chat as usual. Many guys would come and say Hi to the duo but the presence of Rahama would not enable them stay as long. There seemed some charms in her sea blue colored eyes which would make the guys unable to stay as long as they intended. Later on approached a guy to whom Alesha commented, "Rahama, there comes your boyfriend!"

Rahama looked up and saw the coming of Abdul and she quickly lowered her gaze with a smile. Since the start of her studies in University of Jos in January of the previous year, Abdul had remained the only courageous guy that was able to approach her and within a short period, secured her attention and later on, expressed his feelings to her. Rahama was a novice in relationships and had never tried same, save for the childish love she did while still in high school. When Abdul asked her out, she rejected him there and then. As a respect to her emotions, Abdul never took his rejection so offensive; rather, he backed off and reduce interactions with her by about 40% yet, never for once, attempted to cease talking to her just as many guys would do.

For a year, Abdul kept a moderate friendship with Rahama and he was even the first guy to have had such opportunity. Rahama rarely had male friends. On Valentine's, he gave her a wristwatch and labelled the gift box, "To My Good Friend." Rahama received the gift and was so astonished. She gave him a framed write-up too, which he hung on the wall in his room. By the end of the year and especially in November, Abdul had declined a great deal in his feelings for Rahama and at that point, he barely interact with her. In his heart, her feelings were as fresh as never before but he decided to act as if he had lose interest in her and his decision created the effect he desired. On the day school was to close for the session, 5th November precisely, Rahama fully observed Abdul's decline in her affection and felt she really loved him. She called him to the Faculty common room and lacked words to say. Finally she said something, "Abdul, I know I did wrong by turning down your request to be in a relationship with me---"

"C'mon Rahama!" he interrupted, "you don't have to bother about that. It is now in the past and as a matter of truth, you did nothing wrong by rejecting me. I believe just as a guy has right to love a lady, she as well has a right to accept his love or to reject it. Don't mind, no hard feelings."

"Thanks for being gentle. Now, do you have a girlfriend?"

"No, I don't have any."

"Well, I don't have a boyfriend and, uhm… Gosh!"

Abdul realized why she was struggling to speak. It was something usually heavy for ladies to say first so out of enthusiasm, he helped her out, "I love you!"

"Yeah, I love you too Abdul."

The duo hugged briefly and bade goodbye to each other.

"I'll chat you up on WhatsApp," he said to her and they departed.

That was four months ago.

"Good p.m ladies," Abdul said with a grin as he finally reached the spot where the two were sitting and chatting.

"Abdul, glad you're here," said Rahama who was sitting next to Alesha and placed her hands up on the left shoulder of the latter and subsequently resting her right chin on the back of the palms.

"I'm glad I've spotted you two! Lady Alesha, how was the vacation," he asked in his playful manner.

"It was fine hun! Just that my friend here missed you throughout." replied Alesha in a corresponding manner.

"Well, it was just a one week break but never had I missed her as much. It felt a whole decade!" he smiled and sit next to Rahama.

After the trio chatted for over an hour, it was 3 pm and Rahama, who was the only one not staying within the students resident hall set to leave. "See you guys tomorrow!" she exclaimed and threw a gaze at Abdul, who obviously wished she would stay longer. He looked into her blue eyes and smiled as he said "bye." It was said that her blue coloured eyes was as a result of a rare genetic disorder but he loved it, just as any other person loved it.

In the cab Rahama took back home, she smelled a perfume and suddenly recalled her accident with the strange man in the morning. It was the same perfume the man wore. She waived off the thought and sipped the orange juice Abdul gave to her.
