Jane Pov
Hello my name is Jane Jone, I just graduated as a nurse, I am the best graduating student from my class, I also have two years working experience with St. Mary hospital, I worked there as a volunteer since my third year in school. I briefly explained to the woman sitting in front of me. To be honest, she looks bored I just hope it’s not because of my story because heaven knows that I seriously need this job.
“God please let her be impressed” I silently prayed in my heart because I seriously need this job. My younger sister has kidney stones and needed to be operated upon as soon as possible or her kidney might be damaged and then she will need a kidney transplant and that’s like more expenses, I mean a kidney alone cost about seventy five thousand dollars. I don’t think we will be able to get such amount all through our life time.
“Well, miss Jane I must say you indeed have an amazing resume”. The woman interviewing me said with a small smile.
Thank you mam, I replied happily although I feel like a “but” coming up next.
“It will be wonderful to have you as an employer in our hospital, the woman continued but..
I knew it! I knew it! I knew there was a but coming in somewhere I said to myself while still maintaining a smile on my face.
“We are not in need of more nurses right now, am so sorry . The woman said with a remorse look on her face.
It’s fine , I understand. I answered her while blinking my eyes repeatedly because I don’t want to start crying in front of her.
Thank you, I will take my leave I said to her as I quickly got up and left .
As soon as I went out of the hospital, I went into the alley by the side of the hospital and started crying.
I cried because am so frustrated, I cried because of our current situation at home, every since dad died things has been very bad for us at home, mom is a house wife and so couldn’t help out a lot. The money we got from dad insurance was used to pay Jennifer and I school fee.
After crying for about two hours, I got up and went back home. I don’t actually live with my family. In fact , we both live in different states. I live in cafe town while my family are based in sun city.
I have lived here for five years now together with my childhood best friend Elsa . Although I studied Nursing, she studied fashion design and plans on being her own boss, she owns her own fashion shop although it’s not very big but at least it’s something.

As soon as I got home, my phone started ringing, it’s was my my mom calling although I don’t wish to pick the call but I have no choice.
I cleared my voice and picked up the phone.
“ Hello mummy!”
“Good afternoon my lovely daughter!” The voice of phone said. How have you been?
“Am fine mom” I answered with a timid voice because I know her next question will be about my job.
“So how far? Have you gotten a job yet? My mom asked .
“Not yet Mom but am still going out tomorrow again. Hopefully luck will be on my side.
“ Alright, good luck” my mom answered.
“How is Jennifer feeling?” I asked my mom although I don’t want to hear the reply to the question. I mean no sane person would be happy to hear about the situation of their sick sister.
“Hmm! Not very good, her body have refused to accept food into her system. The doctor says we need to act very fast. If not it will be very bad.” Mom replied me in a very sad tone. I know this is very difficult for her seeing her last daughter in such conditions and can’t do anything to help her.
“Mom, everything is going to be fine very soon. I promise okay? I said trying to stay strong for my mom although I myself feeling like crying already.
“I know, I believe that God will make a way for us. Thank you for all you having doing for us may God continue to bless you my sweet daughter”. Mom said as she prays for me. Trust mom to always pray anytime she calls me. Mom is a very devoted Christian and doesn’t joke with prayers. As for me, well! Am getting there.
“Thanks mom we will talk tomorrow, my regards to Jennifer ” I replied.
“She will hear”. My mom said as she cut off the call.
