Gloria sat across her best friend Beverly, Beverly and Gloria clicked on their first meeting at a friends party, a fellow attendee had called Gloria a pig because she was fat. Beverly had heard and had given the boy the beat of his life.
Gloria who had never seen anybody this nice to her became happy and quickly stretched her hands and held Beverly's hand with hers.
From then on they became unbreakable, their bond grew stronger and stronger than you'd think they were twin sisters and not friends.
"So Beverly what's the news?" Gloria asked as she stuffed herself with ice cream and mac and cheese.
"Well, I got you a job, although it's just for a day it's a good pay and besides it'll come in handy for mama's medication and other important stuff," Beverly replied as she tried taking Gloria's ice cream, which Gloria gave to her in one go because of the good news.
Gloria was beyond grateful, she didn't know how to express herself. Beverly had been her backbone when she had none. For the last weeks she had borrowed money from Beverly, but she never complained nor denied her any help because she couldn't pay it back. Gloria looked at Beverly lovely and wished she was a man, which was kinda creepy. "Thanks so much, B, you've been of help to me and mama." She said as a single tear slipped out of her left eye.
"So what's the job about, and how much pay am I getting? Not that anything isn't okay." Gloria asked calmly as she stood to go get water from the fridge.
Currently, she is at Beverly's apartment and it felt like she had been here her whole life. The house is a two-room and parlour apartment, there was also a dining area, kitchen, john and washroom.
The parlour was coloured in black and pink. Well, long story short she's a die-hard fan of black pink and Lisa, so she didn't care.
"Well, the job is a waitress job at an engagement party. As far as I know, it would be at their hotel, Winston's prestige hotels and suites." She answered as she took her cup which Gloria had given her containing water.
After having a good amount of water Gloria walked back to the loveseat, where she loved most after she had given Beverly her Then Beverly continued to give her more details "Well, 1000 dollars, although it's not……". " I will take the job. Besides the fact they are paying 1000 bucks for just a day work means they're loaded. Please B, what am I to send to them to get my interview letter?". Gloria said, watching Beverly as she forced herself to chew on her snack.
Beverly never really loved junk food but eat them nevertheless. "There won't be any need for that because the works going to be for just a day so they didn't bother to check the information of the employees". Beverly replied.
Gloria couldn't hold her joy, she was so excited by the job and for the help, Beverly had rendered to her. "Thanks a lot, Bev you've been the best so far, mama's going to be so happy when she learns of this". She added as she smiled widely and blissfully.
Beverly could see the happiness in her friend's eyes that she wished the job was even a permanent job that would help her friend because Gloria hates it when Beverly gives her money when she didn't ask.
After they stayed together for a while Gloria stood up ready to go when Bev stood up also ready to walk her to the door, when Gloria asked, "so what are we supposed to wear for the work? You know I've never been to places like that except what's related to your family." Yes! And she was right, all she had ever attended was Beverly's father's ball and other of their party like birthdays. Sorry, I had forgotten to tell you Beverly is from a rich home and her father owns a few companies and hotels and Beverly never made Gloria feel different.
"There won't be any need for that Ria, they have uniforms in all sizes so you won't have to worry about the outfit, all you have to do is get there early so you'd give a good expression.
We'd see each other there so there's no need to worry, but all you have to do is be careful not to get the queen herself angry, okay?".
"Yes, mother!". Gloria said making an obedient face to Beverly.
They understood each other so much that their quarrel never lasted a minute.
But! Beverly didn't seem bothered by Gloria calling her mother she was already used to it.

On getting home, Gloria met her mother watching one of her best soap operas shown on the TV, she smiled at her mother and greeted her. "Hello mama, how was your day?". She asked her mother who in return smiled also then replied.
"Am fine, but kinda missed you. So how's Bev?". Her mother never failed that question because she also took Beverly as her daughter. Beverly lost her mom when she was four and all her dad did was work, work and work. He just left Beverly for her nanny Marisa and that was it until they became friends and her mother became Beverly's mother also.
"She's fine, she also sends her greetings". Gloria told her mother and then tried to make Beverly's voice. "Tell mama I miss her a lot and also send my regards to her," Gloria said making her mother laugh because that was typical Beverly.
Her mother continued watching her opera, while Gloria decided to go to her room and leave her mother to enjoy her show.
On getting to her bedroom, she went straight to the bathroom to have her bath before returning to her room to have a good night sleep.

TWO DAYS LATER
Gloria was ready to go for her job at the Winston's, but then she was a little scared if they would change their mind considering the fact she wasn't in any way their kind of waitress.
She wore a dark red top and blue jeans. Her blonde hair was on ponytail, while she wore minimal makeup that you'd hardly tell.
She came down and met her mom eating the pancakes which she had made before she had her bath.
Gloria sat across her and greeted. "Good morning, mama".
"Morning my darling, and how was your night?." Her mother asked while
dipping her pancake into her syrup plate.
"Fantastic mama." She replied as she started eating hers.
When she was finished, she took hers and her mother's dishes to the sink and washed them up and after washing, she took the wiper and wiped the plates before setting them on the cupboard.
After leaving the dining kitchen she went to the sitting room where her mother was already watching her favourite soap operas again and kissed her on the cheek. "Got to go to work mama, don't wait for me, okay. I would be very late.". She said to her mother.
"Okay dear, go and be safe. I pray for ao environment." Her mother said as she touched her daughter's face which held smiles.
After the mother and daughters little goodbyes, Gloria left and went out of the house to the road and stopped an Uber that would take her straight to the hotel.
When she got there the whole place was asked up with workers from left to right and north to south.
She stood for a second to get used to such a full environment because she knew she was a mess in such a crowded place. As she started moving to the door all the workers went to bring out stuff for the occasion she mistakenly hit a woman who had on a dark colour dress, the woman seemed mature and reserved to she quickly said, "am sorry for my rude behaviour ma'am, I just get confused when a place is as crowded as this." She said to the woman in a calm smile
before lending the woman a helping hand.
The woman smiled back me answered. "It's okay to be clumsy sometimes, mostly in a busy place as this. I was also once like you, so no need to be formal." The lady replied Gloria. The woman looked to be in her late forties and also seemed nice.
"Thanks, ma, well I was going for the waitress job for the engagement party. Please am I in the right place?" Gloria asked feeling lost.
The woman smiled and told Gloria to follow her while she lead the way to the changing room. "You're to change here". The woman walked inside the changing room and brought out a nice pair of black short skirts and a white breast tube shirt for Gloria to wear. Yes, that was their uniform. "Here wear this, I know the shirt won't do any justice to your big bucks but it would be able to fit and hold down better." The woman said and turned to go when she heard Gloria say.
"Thanks".
Gloria finished wearing her uniform and really what the lady had said was true. Her top could hardly hold her breasts while her skirt wasn't any better, it was so short that she prayed she won't have to bend to pick up anything.
She came out of the room and couldn't find the lady is she decided to ask any fellow waitress. "Please, can you show me where to go from here?" She asked. The girl who seem to be in her late teens showed her the way she was coming from before continuing her journey.
Gloria went to the room and met everyone is busy here and there. Gloria walked inside and was told what to carry out even before she could ask.
Then and there she knew she had been accepted as a worker and hoped to end the day happy and receiving her pay.
