  ERIN'S

I felt the warmth of the sun on my skin. The music that the humming birds create and the view of my love sleeping peacefully beside me--- a life and sight to behold.

I suddenly remembered how Max and I met. How he exactly knows me like the back of his hand. I can't help but smile at the memory.

"Morning, babe" I whispered in his ear as I kiss his eyes.

He smiled and opened his left eye to see me.

"Good morning" he said giggling and snuggled himself into me

I can't help but smile. This is what I needed. This is the way everything should be. Him staying in my  life and not leaving. Max, loving me with all his heart.

"Babe?" I am sporting a serious face, trying not to smile or burst out in laughter.

"Hmm?" He humed and looked at me, studying me.

He's trying to figure out what I'm about to say or ask.

I couldn't hold it, I burst out in laughter. He's just so cute when he's thinking.

"Sorry, I just couldn't help it" I apologized as I continue to laugh.

He looked at me, brows furrowed. DEAD.

"Oh babe. I'm sorry, okay? I was just about to ask you what do you want for breakfast. But I figured out that it's always the usual. And oh, you look really cute when you're thinking." I said and kissed him.

He just nodded and I jumped out of bed to start making breakfast.

Mornings are always better with someone---with Max.  Just the both of us, a cup of coffee, waffles drizzled with chocolate syrup, bacon, and the picturesque view of the sea. PERFECT.

When I finished preparing breakfast. I ran to our room to tell Max everything's ready but I was greeted with an empty bed and the sound of the shower on.  Everything scattered last night's already in place. Max, I smiled at the thought of him cleaning our mess up.

I looked around the room and my eyes stopped at something. I walked towards my study table and picked a picture frame up. It was a photo of me and my family, everyone smiling---happy. I couldn't help but shed a tear at the memory of them. Then suddenly I felt an arm wrapped around me.

  "I love you" he whispered

I turned around to see my boy friend in his perfectly tailored suit and  wide smile. I hugged him.

  "I love you, too. C'mon food's ready."

We started eating breakfast and talked about work matters. Max is working as an accountant of a known company while I manage a cafe downtown.

When we finished the food. Max had to go because he have a very important meeting to attend to.

Then, I fixed things up in the house. Did my morning routine. Dressed up for work.

I arrived at work safely and texted Max to tell him I'm already at work.

He's not requiring me to do things like this but I just want to update him. He even told me to stop working because he can provide for us. But I can't.

My mom always told me not to let my career down. That it's always better to not rely on someone financially. Because a lot of unexpected things can happen. As much as I don't want to do things that might trigger Max to leave, I can't just give this up. Good thing, he understands.

This day, the cafe's packed. Most people in the cafe are tourists.

"Hey, Juls. Coffee beans arrived?" I asked Julia, one of the baristas who's busy with the coffee machine.

"Yep. And I think you have to call for another batch next week." She answered without looking at me.

I entered my office to continue working on the paperworks that are due tomorrow. Lily, the owner and my boss is a bit strict. I switched my phone on silent mode so that I'll be able to work continuously.

Hours and hours after, I didn't noticed that lunch break's over. I placed the paper I'm reading on the table and stretched. My back hurts, really.

I then checked my phone and saw that I've got 5 missed calls from Max. Panic immediately spilled on my system and texted Max.

'Babe. I'm sorry I wasn't able to pick up. My phone's on silent mode, had a bunch of paperworks to sort. Call me back? I love you' I texted

  My phone lit up.

'It's fine, babe. I just got excited to share the good news. I can't call, I'm finishing something. I'll tell you later, I can't wait. I love you!' he replied.

I smiled then locked my phone. I stared at the papers I'm working on and sighed. I reached out for my tumbler and gulped everything on it. I thought of having a 30 minute break to eat. But there are still 3 papers to go, and they're due tomorrow. So I decided to continue the remaining work.

Read, read, sign, read. That's what I did the whole time. I was startled when I heard a knock.

  I composed myself .

  "Come in" I said

The door opened and revealed the person knocking.

  "It's closing time" Julia said

I stared at her for a moment. Then she pointed at the clock making me shift my eyes on the wall clock.

"I think you're overworking. I didn't even saw you have lunch." Juls said

  I sighed

"Papers are due tomorrow, what do you expect? I don't want Lily coming over and fire us." I said exaggerating.

"Oh, c'mon Erin. That old kangaroo can piss off. She's too demanding. Besides, we all know that if it wasn't you,  this cafe is out of business." She replied and smiled.

I smiled and nodded in return. When Julia left, I started fixing and packing my things. I glanced at the clock and saw it's 7 pm, Max must be home now.

I rushed to the parking area and drove home.

When I entered the house as I arrived, I saw Max in the living room with a box of pizza and two wine filled glasses.

"I'm home" I said and walked towards the sofa

Max looked into my direction. He caught me by the waist and guided me to sit on his lap.

"I have something to tell you" he told me

He's looking directly into my eyes and caresses my arm. His eyes screams joy.

"You seem really happy. Tell me about it" I replied.

Then he started spilling the beans.

"So, I had a meeting with the boss. He commended me and said he's really impressed with my performance. He offered me to handle the accounting department of our sister company"

  I kissed him passionately.

"I'm so proud of you" I whispered

  "Thank you, babe."

"So when will you start?" I asked and picked up the wine glass

"He said I have to be in New York next month." he replied happily

  The glass slipped my hand.

  "What?" I whisper yell
