I thought it was over.
I was wrong.
The ground beneath me violently shakes, like the earth will split open any second. Everything hurts, every muscle aches and burns. I’m glued to my spot, unable to move as I watch the scene unfold before my eyes. The witch is tainted with blood, drawing her hands up and placing them onto the sides of Kyson’s head. She leans into his ear, whispering something only for him.
That’s when the abyss of darkness leaks from his eyes, goosebumps arising on my skin as the darkness explodes from his eyes and mouth.
It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before, the darkness being unleashed from within his body. A catastrophic annihilation of one powerful individual, Kyson drops to his knees, but everything is still spilling out of him, it’s never-ending.
The witch laughs menacingly, staring down at him in delight. I wanted to move, to shred her skin from her bones for doing this to him, even with every pain sparking through my body, I forced myself to stand.
However, the witch is suddenly flung back and suspended into the air. She is restrained, unable to move and that once evil laughter escaping her lips is replaced with screams of terror. Fear leaking from her pores as I watch her body begin to twist, bones crushing on amplification and blood and flesh spraying upon the ground.
Suddenly, the screams stop, and her mutilated body drops to the ground. I’m able to stand on two feet, ready to go to Kyson but his body is shielded by Kier. A cry escapes my lips as a million invisible knives pierce through my heart. Flattening my palm to soothe the intense pain, I feel something deep in my soul. It’s like my soul is being ripped apart, a hollow sensation settling within. All my emotions slowly fading away until emptiness remains.
What is happening?
Air is being tainted by whatever darkness is exploding from Kyson, on shaky knees I take one step at a time. Kier encases his brothers face in his hands, words I’m unable to hear reaching his ears but not stopping whatever is killing him. Each step brings an unimaginable pressure that forces me to stop, ensuring I can’t move.
I need to go to Kyson; I need to help him even if I don’t know how.
Somehow, I feel him slipping through my fingertips. Our connection could never be explained, it always felt deeper like we intertwined with silk threads tying us together. Right now, I can feel the thread being torn. Like is he is being pulled away from me, our connection fading until that hollowness settles within my heart.
The more that feeling grows, the more I can sense his soul dying.
The wind picks up, spiralling around them and keeping anyone from getting too close. It’s a powerful force that can slice through flesh if we got any closer to Kyson and Kier. With a heavy body, my mind splitting in two and the resistance of the wind – I continue to place one foot in front of the other.
It is taking every ounce of my energy to not collapse and give into the pain, however if I stop now, I will never get back up.
On their left, I see a blackhole emerge. This isn’t any ordinary one, it’s Kier’s blackhole. The man has the ability to eat anyone’s power, there is a reason why we could never find him. Kier will make himself known, in the oddest times – because he is the one that finds you.
And the same can be said for Kyson.
I know that once they go through that blackhole, there is no telling when I will ever meet them again. Kyson and Kier will disappear for days, for months, for years…forever.
“YOU NEED TO GO!” Anya, my wolf screams in desperation.
My head is already splitting in half, along with my heart twisting in agony. Every piece of my soul will be demolished if it ends here. Anya knows him better, she knows that if we lose this connection now there will never be another chance again.
I’m too weak to move, “I can’t move.” I huff in frustration.
Anya particially takes over, until we are both on the forefront in my body. We wouldn’t manage to shift now, it’s better that her strength leaks into my skin. The blackhole starts to expand, until it’s twice the size of their bodies.
Suddenly, all the strength combined with Anya’s enables me to sprint, my entire body numbed to anything but the desperation of reaching Kyson.
Kier didn’t turn around; however he knew I was racing towards them, “YOU CAN NEVER COME BACK!” He warns in haste.
I can never come back.
Was there anything left for me to come back to?
My father would kill me if I disappeared without a trace, he wouldn’t forgive me for leaving Crystal Blood pack and my position as Alpha. I had responsibilities, as his heir and a member of the Founding Families.
Everyone in Crystal Blood despised me, they labelled me as incompetent and pathetic. They didn’t want me as Alpha, they didn’t deem be capable. My father alone raised me as himself, a younger version to take over.
He wanted a son and instead he got me, so my father used me to keep his claim over his pack.
I can never go back?
The only person who made me feel like myself, like I was worthy, that made me feel strong and desired for than just my power was Kyson.
I can never go back? There was nothing left for me without Kyson.
Nothing will stop me; I didn’t care about the repercussions of my choice. There is nothing more unbearable than never seeing Kyson again.
Obligations be damned.
Skidding on busted knees against the grass, intercepting Kier and Kyson as I wrap my arms around Kyson’s neck. The darkness like an entity crawling from his mouth.
“I’m not leaving you.” I whisper into the croak of Kyson’s neck, while our bodies shake with the massive thunder.
Closing my eyes as we were sucked into the blackhole of darkness together.
