"I don't want to marry her. Who do you think would want a disabled Omega like her? Not only is she wolfless, she's even blind!"
Aurelie's hands clenched at her sides.
"Mathew, you're making me mad. If you don't want her, then why did you marry her? I feel like I'm suffocating with jealousy."
Cold sweat broke out on Aurelie's forehead.
"Oh, come on, honey, I didn't do it because I wanted to. This was my father's order, and I didn't dare refuse. My father insisted that Aurelie saved my life, so I had to marry her to repay her. What a hassle!"
Aurelie swallowed saliva that tasted sharp like bile.
"Babee, please, don't move so fast, it hurts... Aargghhh, you are naughty, don't bite my nipples!"
Aurelie covered her mouth with both hands, afraid her voice would escape as a scream.
"Damn it! Fiora, why are you so tight? It drives me crazy every time I fuck you."
"Aah, Mathew, baby, I can't take it anymore!"
"Let it out together, honey, don't hold it in. I want to see you climax with me. Aarrgghh, Fiora!"
Aurelie's hand touched the doorknob, ready to open it.
"Fiora, don't think too much about my marriage to your step-sister. I already have a solution to avoid that damned marriage."
"Huh? How?"
"I'm going to hand her over to Vincent Keagan as collateral for my debt. That bastard Alpha drained all my money and made me owe him, so I said I'll pay him back with a woman who can satisfy him."
"Gosh, Mathew, she could die at Vincent's hands. You must be crazy!"
"You say that, but your smile is so big, honey. I think that's the quickest way to get rid of Aurelie for good so we can get married."
"You're right. But I think we should hurry now. I'm afraid she'll be home soon. It's been over two hours, right?"
"I should have sent her out of town to get the wine for the ceremony, so we could spend more time together. I still wanted to move on to the next round."
The sounds of spoiled laughter and lewd sighs inside the room, whose door left a gap, discouraged Aurelie from widening the door and entering.
Instead, Aurelie turned and walked silently, tracing the walls and counting her steps, using her sharp and practiced instincts to get away from that room of sin, where her stepsister and fiancé were building a palace of decay with a foundation of betrayal for her.
One years ago, Aurelie had just returned from a perfume exhibition at a downtown mall.
She had arrived late and had spent all her money on several small sample bottles of scents, which she had intended to study at home. So, she walked from the bus stop to the upscale housing complex where her house was located.
She looked at her watch and felt uneasy. She imagined what would happen if she were late getting home.
Aurelie was used to being bullied, after the fact that she was a wolfless Omega was revealed.
Aurelie's stepmother and stepsister, both are arrogant Beta, constantly teased her because of her disability. At home, she was completely ignored. She was rarely given enough food and was often injured due to their physical abuse. She was also often locked up in the dusty attic upstairs.
The situation is very unfavorable at the moment. Luckily Aurelie knew a shortcut that could get her home faster.
She had to hurry, lest her stepmother had a reason to torture her again, so she took that shortcut.
Aurelie entered a small alley and walked hurriedly, occasionally looking up at the almost dark sky.
However, she stopped when she heard a commotion at the end of the alley.
Aurelie strained her eyes, and goosebumps rose on her spine as she saw several men apparently beating another man.
Aurelie's heart skipped a beat. When the man being beaten screamed, she recognized the voice.
It was Mathew, her senior whom she had long had a crush on, the Alpha of the Icy Sky pack. Her parents and Mathew's were good friends.
Aurelie thought of a way out. She pressed herself against the alley wall and set off the police alarm she usually used as her wake-up call, so she could wake up before everyone else at home, especially her fussy mother and stepsister.
The men at the end of the alley were shocked and panicked, running away. Aurelie waited a moment, then ran to Mathew and helped him up.
Matthew's head was bleeding and his leg was limping when Aurelie woke him up and supported him. She had to get him to the hospital immediately.
But after they had only taken a few steps, a motorcycle sped toward them, and instinctively, Aurelie pushed Mathew into the bushes.
The motorcycle hit Aurelie's shoulder, sending her crashing to the road. Her head hit hard, and she smelled the stench of blood, while her vision slowly went black.
Two weeks later, Aurelie emerged from her coma, hysterical when she realized she was blind.
At that moment, Mathew held her hand and said he would protect her for the rest of his life. Reynold Damon, Mathew's father, the Alpha leader of the Icy Sky pack, said he would repay Aurelie for saving his beloved son.
After that, Mathew remained by her side, and Aurelie slowly began to accept her fate. She was even grateful for having such a gentle and caring man, and Mathew also declared that they were destined to be mates.
"I'm sure that incident brought us together as mates," Mathew said. "We're compatible in every way, Aurel."
Aurelie believed, and secretly consoled herself, that her wolfless side wasn't a bad thing. She could still have a handsome and charismatic mate like Mathew.
Aurelie continued to reassure herself that one day her inner wolf would manifest. She just had to be patient and keep practicing.
Aurelie paused to catch her breath, remembering one years ago, which she had thought would be the beginning of a better life.
In reality, she was just dreaming. A dream that was too beautiful, and in one very short moment, when she was so immersed in happiness, it had turned into the most terrifying nightmare.
The tears Aurelie had been holding back slowly rolled down her cheeks. She leaned against the wall and slumped to the floor. She needed to pause before continuing.
The bottle of wine she had intended to show off to Mathew clinked against the floor.
Aurelie carefully set the bottle down. It was a special, expensive wine, only to be drunk by the bride and groom during the wedding ceremony.
Aurelie's hand limply touched the cold floor, and her finger touched something smooth and soft on the tip of her index finger.
Aurelie reached for the object. She felt its shape and texture, sniffed it from a distance of two feet, and then froze.
Since becoming blind, Aurelie had trained her other senses to become stronger and more dominant. She could recognize and remember a person just by their voice and scent, and identify an object by its texture and aroma.
Aurelie felt both disgusted and angry. She threw the object in her hand, feeling nauseous.
It was Fiora's underwear.
Stumbling, Aurelie got up and grabbed the wine bottle, uncorking it, and taking a sip of the expensive wine, like a thirsty cat finding a puddle of water.
"Aurelie, what are you doing?"
A woman's shout from her left startled Aurelie. She slowly lowered the bottle and wiped her wet lips and chin.
"You're too much! You drank the ceremonial wine! You're so greedy and have absolutely no manners, you annoying orphan!"
The curse escaped the lips of Anika Damon, Mathew's mother. She is the higher class Beta, which means Beta comes from a rich and respected family, not an ordinary Beta like Aurelie's stepmother and stepsister.
She placed the wedding dress she had brought with her on the sofa, then approached Aurelie and snatched the half-empty bottle of wine.
"Stupid girl!" Anika snapped angrily. "What's going through your head to do something like this? Look at you, you're disgusting and wild!"
Aurelie felt her blood boil with pent-up anger.
She smirked and walked quickly toward Anika, making her future mother-in-law take a step back in shock.
"You don't have to tell me to look at myself, Mrs. Damon! Have you forgotten that I'm blind? And it's all because of your son!" Aurelie snapped fiercely.
Anika was stunned.
"W-what?" she stammered. "You're yelling at me? Do you realize what you're doing?"
Aurelie snorted and turned away. She didn't want to argue with her elders.
However, when Aurelie's hand touched the doorknob leading to the attic, Anika gripped it tightly.
"Don't mess around, Aurelie! The wedding is tomorrow, and I don't care what happens, you have to control yourself and not cause any trouble!"
Anika grabbed the wedding dress she had brought and shoved it into Aurelie's hands with a mocking laugh.
"This wedding dress is one size smaller than you asked for. Just endure it until the time comes, because you look so ugly now, fat and shabby! You're going to marry my son, don't embarrass me or you'll regret it!"
Aurelie gritted her teeth.
