Epilogue:
“I will forever love you” this scene keeps replaying in Cynthia’s head as she fiddled with the foam bubbles in the bath tub, she has been proposed to by Chris at the Leonard Italian Restaurant two months ago.
She reached out for her wine glass as she remembered how Chris was so romantic and sweet that night, he had asked her out with one of the most expensive diamond rings, she couldn’t believe her ears as “will you marry me?” rang through with her head refusing to process it. She needed to clear her head but her emotions aren’t giving her the time, she was feeling high, happy, loved, confused and surprised at the same time, she really love Chris so why hesitate? “Yes, I will” she answered jumping for joy as she leapt into his open arms.
As these memories played in her head with the soft instrumental coming out of her speaker, she couldn’t control the anger as she dived into the pool of soapy water with a tear strolling down her cheek.
CHAPTER ONE
“I will be leaving for Egypt in two days’ time” Lauren announced as she blasted the door open with her foot.
“Why come in like that?” Cynthia questioned only to see her standing there with a tray filled with her favorite pancakes.
“Well I’ll forgive you for this” she said standing up with a wide smile as she stretched forth her hands to receive the package.
“Not that easy dearie” Lauren teased as she slid her hands to the left,
“deal?” She asked blinking her eyes rapidly,
“ha ha ha ha” Cynthia laughed out loud, “I can always get pancakes, I don’t need to strike a deal” she answered settling back on her bed,
“well I can guarantee you will never find one with your mom’s recipe” Lauren replied heading for the door.
“This pancake is leaving” Cynthia thought as she salivated licking the corner of her lips, okay! Deal! She blurted out almost shouting, deal okay she added trying to hide her embarrassed look.
“Well no one is bold enough to reject the Lauren’s powerful pancake” Lauren said as she turned back to hand over the tray.
“Twilight Hotel, 5pm, don’t dare to miss it” she added as she handed over the tray and leave for the door, “I will get you a souvenir from Egypt” she said winking as she disappeared behind the closed door.
“Fuck!” Cynthia said as she buried her head in the pillow.
The door slid to the left to reveal a lady dressed in spring floral flay dress with her hair tied in a bun, the latest Chanel bag is hanging on her right arm accompanied with beautiful black heels. She walks elegantly to the table at the far corner of the hotel’s lobby as she sights her guest from afar.
“Chris?” She asked as she halted in front of the table,
“correct!” He answered standing up to greet her,
“well I’m sorry I’m late” she said dropping her bag on the table’s edge,
“and that’s a charm” he answered with a smile.
“He must be weird” thought Cynthia because she stood him up for over an hour before coming over.
“You like fruit juice or alcohol?” He asked he prepared to order.
“Well I like alcohol, vodka will be good, we are already in the evening time, and it’s perfect” she answered fixing her eyebrow.
“Another beautiful charm” he replied with a big smile,
“he’s extremely weird” she thought again tilting her head, “you like ladies who take alcohol?” She questioned with her eyeballs almost out of their sockets,
“well yes, I love alcohol, so we click then” he replied again flipping through the menu.
“Ehem, I’ll just take iced Americano” she replied changing her mind immediately, “I’m a light drinker, I can’t afford to lose my head around a stranger” she thought as she changed her mind.
“Give us then” he said to the waiter closing the menu and handling it over.
“So what do you do?” Cynthia questioned as she place her hands under her chin,
“well I just play around” he answered with a shrug,
“so proud” she said to herself as she head for another sip,
“what do you do too?” He asked,
“I’m the CEO of Crystal Saloon and cosmetics” she replied with a bit of pride.
“That’s nice he said giving a nod. Since we both know the reason why we are here, I won’t like to waste our time; do you want to go out with me?” He asked making her spill her coffee out of surprise,
“well I’m lacking in some aspect, I can be quite blunt but I don’t play dirty, I’m quite the romantic type and I know how to cherish a woman, I think that should make me qualify” he said handling over a tissue for her to clean up her mess.
“woah, his charm” she thought blinking her eyes, she is always blunt, straightforward and sincere so she cherishes that most in a man and this man just listed those as his qualities,
“let’s go on three more dates” she answered cleaning up the coffee.
“No problem, I’m all yours” he answered taking his drink.
“See you soon” she said sliding her business card on the table as she made her way out.
“Do you want to go home or to the saloon ma’am?”
“Let’s go to the saloon” she replied placing her head on the seat rest with her eyes closed reminiscing about her just concluded evening.
“My bean” Kate called out as Cynthia stepped into her company,
“Oh my God!” Cynthia screamed as she dropped her bag and went into her hands with full speed while Pete picked up her bag and head to her office.
“When did you get back?” Cynthia questioned as she dragged her along to her office.
“Well yesterday” Kate replied beaming with smile.
“Trust you enjoyed Thailand since your skin is glowing like porcelain” Cynthia teased,
“I should agree with tha”t Kate replied making them burst into laughter.
“Want to go home with me?” Cynthia asked as she settled on her chair,
“should i? I have many things to take care of” Kate replied with a thin smile,
“tomorrow then, let’s hang out” Cynthia proposed arranging the papers on her table,
“Cool then” Kate replied with a big nod.
“Man! It’s been freaking long” Chris shouted to Evans amidst the blaring noise of the club,
“how have you been?” He asked taking a seat near the serving table;
“I have been good and all you?” Evans replied,
“well I’ve been busy here and there, you know we have to make more money to spend more” Chris answered patting Evan’s back.
“Are you back for good?” He asked pouring his tequila into his mouth,
“well yeah; my trip is over” Evans replied with a smile.
“It should be over by now, you spent five years in Thailand, it’s time you come back home” Chris added.
“Want to dance a bit?” Evans asked with his eyes lit up,
“should we friend?” Chris replied as they stood up and burst into laughter before going into the crowd for a good time.
