Russell Corp

Only one of the best in the country, if not the continent, at least with the little I've seen cause I didn't know shit about the business world. It was well spoken of and I'd seen pictures of it here and there and the name 'Russell' in the mouth of everyone that had a connection with business and tech stuff. I, on the other hand, was standing in front of the big ass building after realizing just ten minutes ago that the interview was today.

So how did this start? Good question.

I graduated college with the not so good GPA and it wasn't my fault at all. You don't need to know why but it wasn't my fault, period. Well, I've been stuck in a coffee shop for something above two years and it wasn't the best option for a young woman in her prime like myself. I didn't like the place, I didn't like my boss, I didn't like the job everything about the place sucks, okay? And I need a life which is exactly why I applied for a cooperation like this even when I had a little below zero chance of getting in. I had my friend give me the best motivation and it made me apply but then I forgot the interview was today and here I am, ten minutes late.

The good thing is, there were a lot of women when I got there so I wouldn't be noticed that easily. Except for the fact every other person had a suit on and I had a floral dress that was enough to get me dress coded. I got stares, whispers, everything, you name it but did I back down my dear reader? No, cause I had this crazy feeling I would miraculously get in.

The name "Miss Sky" went resounding in the hall and that was my clue to get my butt up.

I walked over to the wide glass double doors without heels clicking on the floor like the other girls but I did have a confident walk though.

I pushed the doors open and got my big self into the room and it was then my confidence went down the drain. Everyone looked like something from the magazine. There were beautiful women, young beautiful successful women and then there were men also, the oldest looking only a little above thirty. They were dressed formally and I was the only being on a yellow floral patterned dress. The place was cold and so quiet, that even a pin drop would be heard. There were also these big screens that showed stuff about cooperation and that kind of stuff, you know what I mean.

Finally, there was this man in the middle and his aura screamed dominance. He looked sharp and strict with jet black hair, dark eyes, a perfectly sculpted face, and then glasses sitting on the bridge of his nose. It was the perfect front-page magazine look and from the way it looked, he was in charge. I didn't maintain eye contact with him. Let me rephrase that, I tried to not make any eye contact with him at all. His gaze was throwing daggers and I just knew it was about the dress and the fact my bush of a hair was probably all over the place already. Every other person stared at me but his look was uncomfortable, very uncomfortable.

"Hi, um, I mean, good morning," I said and took a seat on the chair right in the middle which I presume is meant for me. His gaze was still on me while took my seat and with the position of everything, his seat was right in front of mine. You can only imagine how uncomfortable I felt at that moment.

"You do realize you are not permitted to sit until I tell you to" That was from him, the magazine-looking guy and his deep voice made me jump off my seat even before I comprehended the message.

"Oh yeah, sorry"

"Have a seat"

All of that stress just to tell me to sit down? I will never understand rich people.

It was a slap in the face, however, and that was one of my first hints that I would never get the job. I'd gone too far to back out and I would be a big coward if I just stood up and walked out of the room. Already knowing this was just a waste of time and another way to prove I was so small in this world, I just let it flow. Whatever happens happens.

"Tell me about yourself Mss Sky"

Man, I hate that question but here we go "My name is Kiara Sky, I'm twenty-five, and currently working in an industry_"

"By industry, I assume you mean a coffee shop by the side of the road"

For goodness sake, what is wrong with this guy? It almost looks as if all of this is coming because of me, Why is the universe so unfair to me? How is it possible the other ladies got this kind of response and there's still a long queue waiting outside? Still, I responded with a deep breath and said "Yes, that's exactly what I mean"

"Go on"

"My hobbies are cooking, and cleaning_"

"You're not here to be my maid, you were asked to give hobbies related to the job. You know what you're here for, don't you? I mean, what you're applying for"

Before any other thing, I was told that would be the perfect thing to input if I wanted the job and I practically did exactly as I was told and all of that to get this as a reply. I couldn't even go through a single sentence without Mr. Magazine worthy attacking me and I wouldn't be so worked out about it if I knew what I was here for.

I didn't know the exact position but at least I applied, that's better than not applying at all and if these people just knew the slightest thing about me, I swear they would be begging for me. I could do anything, I could fit into any position, any type of job and that's how I got through college job after job and still managed to earn enough.

"Um maybe not entirely but I am passionate about your company"

He sighed and rested back on the chair with his eyelids meeting now and then and that alone was enough to make me feel like a speck of dust under his feet. He looked like one with a million thoughts in his mind, probably ones on how to kick me out of existence, and with every tap of his finger on the table, I felt anxiety creeping up my throat.

I didn't plan for this to get as serious as this. I mean, I did know it was a big place for big people and I guess all of this just happened because I just knew I never had the chance of getting in. There was a one-in-a-trillion chance I would even get considered but at least I did enough to make them remember Kiara Sky.

"What year was Russell Corp established?"

"A few years ago"

"Few" He repeated and just for the record, I did go through a few things about the place. I just couldn't remember a thing about it. Mostly because I did that just a few seconds before coming in but the point is that I did so I guess I'm justified here.

"A couple?"

"Who's the owner?"

"That's easy, Mr. Russel, your boss"

"My name is David Russell, does that ring a bell?"

"Oh, you're the boss?" I asked "Yeah, of course I knew that"

"It's more than clear to me that you have no idea about this place, neither do you have any idea about the job position_"

"And I'm out. Don't mean to be rude but it's obvious I don't belong here" I cut him off this time. You can just imagine how fulfilling it was to finally be the one to interrupt but anyway, I stood up to take my leave and gave everyone a courtesy on my way out and that's how the interview ended my dear friends, in pure disgrace.

Which is why I'm now here, in an empty coffee shop at past eleven. The shop was closed three hours ago and I'd been sitting here feeling sorry for myself all day and no, it's not because I didn't get a job, I already knew I had no chance of getting it. It's just the fact I got a lot more than I expected and it made me feel so low. They're a lot of wealthy ass people out there and I've been spending every single day of my youth in a beat-up coffee shop.

I'm never usually this sad, and neither did I think that sadness would suddenly turn to anger when I heard the doorbell and a shadow walking in even when there was a big sign outside that showed the shop was closed for the day.

"The shop is closed, find somewhere else to waste your night"

"Sorry?"

I stomped my way over to the shadow, as fast as my long short, and stout legs could travel, and stood in front of the shadow. I had no idea there was water on the floor even though it's logical cause it's raining outside and this person just walked in. Fast forward, my foot slipped and my little above-average body frame went flying to the ground.

Just what I needed to get the day going.

Surprisingly, this person caught me before I fell. Not just because the whole place was dark but also because I wasn't the smallest when it came to body size. Like I said, a little above average. It's quite unexpected this person managed to catch me while most people in my life would give way so I wouldn't fall on them.

"I know you"

A few dots connected and a gasp later, I realized who it was "I know you!"

Well, guess what my dear reader, that was a little too late and the next thing I know, we have the whole paparazzi by the door, flashes from the camera everywhere, voices around the whole place, people asking a series of questions and that is where it went down the drain.
