“Selene” mom yelled “If you don’t hurry up you’re going to be late for your first day of school.”

I was not looking forward to this, it was my first day at a new school and joining a new pack.

“I’m coming mom” I yelled back at her. I checked over my appearance one more time, I chose to wear skinny jeans with some holes in them and a cute off the shoulder floral top and white sandals. Now my hair I thought to myself. I decided to curl my jet black hair, but looking at it with the outfit it kind of clashed, plus my shoulder length hair was now a little below my chin since it was curled, I brushed it out a little and it gave it some more length and the curls were more loose. I put on a little bit of mascara, grabbed my backpack and headed out my bedroom door. Halfway down the steps I smelled pancakes and bacon. Wondering why mom went all out for breakfast I rounded the corner into the kitchen mom was standing there with a plate of pancakes and a candle sticking out of the center. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY’ she screamed at me. Right I had actually forgotten my birthday with all this moving, new pack, and new school stuff. “Thanks mom,” I said. Dad was standing right beside her and said “You look surprised, don’t tell me you actually forgot your own birthday you only turn 18 once.’ “And it’s the big 1 8’ mom said.

I sat down to eat “Yeah, yeah, yeah I know I possibly get to meet my mate, and yes I guess I kind of forgot with all the moving, new pack and new school stuff.” I said stuffing my last bite of pancake into my mouth. “Well I better get going, don’t want to be late.” I gave mom and dad a quick hug and told them thanks, I grabbed my keys then headed out the door.

“Don’t forget we are meeting the alpha and luna tonight.” she yelled as I was leaving. You see both my parents are wolves as am I. My parents Ryan and Elizabeth Roman met each other when they had turned 18, they didn’t have to wait like some people have to wait to meet their mate.You can meet your mate from the time you turn 18 until you’re 28. After you turn 28 and you’re still mateless it’s safe to say you don’t have a mate, though it’s rare it happens. Mom talks about the mate bond as if it’s magical. She says that you feel an amazing tingle sensation everytime you touch your mate and it never goes away. It stays like that until death do you part, she also says that your mate will have this amazing scent that just makes your heart flutter. Then to complete the mating process you have to make love to your mate until the feeling of release then that’s when you sink your canines into each other to mark them as yours. Once that is complete if it’s ever broken it can almost kill you and in some cases it actually does. We just moved here from California, dad had gotten the opportunity to become the beta to the alpha of the blood moon pack and it wasn’t an offer he wanted to turn down seeing that the blood pack is the strongest standing pack around the world, and with dad accepting that position he will gain new strength, speed and heightened senses than the normal wolf, being that he will be the alphas second in command.

I’m actually okay with moving, I got teased a lot in my last pack due to the myth that my family is a direct bloodline of the moon goddess. They would call me all sorts of names saying that I was a fake and an idiot for believing that we had the mood goddess blood in us but I actually don’t believe it, my parents do. There hasn’t been a moon goddess since the first one died but the myth is that once she died her blood line would awaken in the first daughter born in the family and so on but since it never happened nobody believes it. So here I am hoping that the rumor doesn’t get out again.
