Gabriella Divata's POV

"How's my baby?" Evi asks while looking at the ultrasound machine.

"He's doing great, next week you need to be admitted for delivery." I said as I rotated the probe of the ultrasound machine on Evi's belly because next week is her scheduled delivery.

"I am so excited to see and carry my baby Zee!" she squeal happily while looking at the monitor.

Well actually, I named the baby because Evi wants me to. She always reason out that she wants her baby to look like me because she adores my appearance. Evi is just my patient but when I met her for the first time we instantly clicked. Although we are very opposite, I enjoy her presence because she is very talkative, naughty and sweet person. On the other hand, I am quiet, serious and rarely smiles.

"Are you sure you don't want to inform your baby's dad?" I seriously ask her while wiping her belly with a tissue and putting the probe of the ultrasound machine to its holder.

"Why would I? I don't even know him and I can handle this by myself." she answered me while sitting properly on the bed.

I know that she's lying because I can tell by her actions and eyes whenever I ask about her baby's dad that she knows him. I don’t know her reason of hiding the baby from whoever its father is but I respect her decisions and I don't want to push this issue any further. If she can be a father and mother for her child at the same time, then I will support her.

"Ella let's eat lunch together okay?" Evi asks cheerfully as I can sense that she wants to change the topic. She excitedly grab her sling bag while standing up.

"I can't"

"Why? Please Ella." She sweetly beg me ang clings to my right arm.

"I have a meeting with my department head by that time." I seriously responded to her while removing the surgical gloves on my hands.

She removed her hands from hugging to my right arm and puts her both hands on her waist. "You really are making this hospital as your world. Go out and enjoy the outside world Ella, there are more great things in life that you need to enjoy." she said to me while displeasure is evident on her face.

I give her a small smile at her reaction and said "I appreciate the thought but this is my world and I am proud of it."

"This should not just be your world Ella, don't deprive yourself of being able to feel and savor the life that you deserve." she worriedly said to me.

I get her point but the only thing that I knew of is being an Ob-gyn doctor and nothing else. It never crossed my mind to enjoy and party like what my friends are doing. I'm not a loner because I have friends and sometimes we hang out but most of the time they are just too loud, wild and party goers. Besides, I have a main priority and that is to be the next department head of the hospital.

"I don't have time for that Evi." I told her and turned around and walked towards the door. I twist the doorknob open but before I could get out, Evi said something to me that made me stop.

"Someday Ella, God will give you a chance to enjoy everything you deserve. " I heard last from her and left.

I let out a sarcastic laugh while walking away from the room that Evi and I were in. How funny. I don't believe that God will give me a chance because when I needed Him and begged my parents and grandparents not to take them for a while, He didn't listen to me.

While I was reminiscing about the moments of how desperate I was asking God to spare my parents and grandparents before, my phone rings. I check my phone and saw that it is an incoming video call from my closest friends, I let out a sigh and answered the call.

"HellllOOooo everyoneeeeEEE!!!" - Varina Torres, my Model friend.

"Hey Varina! You're drunk again, you're always drunk when we talk to you tsk." - Sophia Molina, my Psychiatrist friend.

"Long time no hangout my baby girls!" - Lucy Salas, the Architect.

"Wow! Ella answered the call. This must be a miracle." - Zara Tan, Chef and CEO of their family restaurants.

My phone was at full volume so the patients and people in the hallway of the hospital looked at me. I just gave them a small smile out of embarrassment and lower the volume of my phone.

"Why did you call?" I calmly asked them because they were shouting as each other's side comments as if they were just calling and looking for a fight.

"You haven't really changed Dr. Divata, you're still cold to us." Zara said while pouting and acting like she is deeply hurt.

"What's the reason why you called?" I rolled my eyes while asking as irritation arise within me.

"Aren't you used to it Zara? That's exactly how our Dr. Gabriella Divata used to be." Sophia politely explain to Zara.

"Hey! Don't bully Ella. I was the one who initiated to call because you are all invited to my birthday! As if I have a choice." Varina said excitedly while giggling.

"Yes, I am ready! 7:00pm tonight right?" Lucy questioned excitedly.

"Wait, your birthday party is tonight?" I asked Varina in astonishment. I clearly believe that I put all their birthdays on my phone reminders.

Otherwise did I forgot to type it?

"Yup, Wow I'm hurt Ella huh. That's because you're so workaholic! And don't forget to bring gifts, no gifts no entry policy." Varina threatened us.

"I'll try to go Varina and I won't promise that I will be there. If ever I can't be there, I'll just deliver my gift to you." I said and looked at my wrist watch because I am getting impatient to go to the department head's office because of the meeting.

"Be there please Ella, we haven't been together for a long time. Even if I don't have a gift from you, just come and that's enough for me." Varina kindly requested while looking sulky at me.

"Yes Ella, come on. We will all be waiting for you." Lucy also tries to persuade me to come.

I exhaled a heavy sigh and just nodded at their insistence. This one night won't hurt right?

As far as I know, I don't have any scheduled delivery procedures or any important events. So I'll just go there for a while then go home.

But little did I know that this night will completely change my entire life.

Because of a baby which I didn't bear.

The baby who made me question all my life values and plans.

Which resulted in my story of how I became a MOTHER.
