You need to get married, find yourself a woman, or man whichever you prefer. I really don’t care, you can’t remain single for the rest of your life. I will not accept it. When I was your age I was married and giving birth to you guys and here you are telling me you are too young to get married at the age of twenty-five, it is unacceptable. He sighed, first, I like girls, and I already said that I don’t want to get married to anyone, is it so hard for you to respect my decision mother. Sure, let us respect his decision, he is always right.
Dear, you should get ready to hand over your shares to your favourite cousin. Wait, what? Why will you give my shares to Derek, getting irritated by mother's choice of words? Well, he is married and has two children already, so he is going to get the company since he has his life planned out. Of all people to give the company to, you decide that Derek is good enough for the position.
Well, he deserves the position since my son refuses to get married, what does marriage have to do with this mother. If you don’t get married the company has to be given to someone else that is what my father, your grandfather told me. When did grandpa say that? Just last week, why do you think your mother has been pressuring you so much? Well why can’t you just hand over the company to Rebecca, she has more rights to the company than I do, I mean she is perfect at it, she will be good for the company.
He scoffed, you think we haven’t tried, we begged but she doesn’t want anything to do with the company, but she loves the company, she loves what she does, it makes her happy and has seen her happy when a business is finalised. Son, your sister hates the company, what? That’s not true, she does son.
She’s only doing this for you, she only signed to work for the company until you were done with your studies, which you had finished for two years now but I wanted you to start from scratch and see how well you get and you’ve accomplished that, but to fully give you the company you need to get a girlfriend, even if it means you don’t like each other just find someone to help you and your mother has found someone for you, though I don’t know who she is, she wouldn’t say.
Mother, I turned and stared at her, who is this unlucky girl you think is good enough for me, I was smiling already making plans on what to do to her. Vera, what? Which Vera are you talking about?
You know her dear, you both went to high school together, and you were childhood friends. Remember when she always followed you everywhere you went, you guys looked cute together, and when you went to high school she made me beg her mother to let you attend the same school. She made my life a living hell and this is all my mother’s fault, if she hadn’t sent her to my school, I would have had female friends, I wouldn’t be hiding in the school library at lunch break just to avoid her.
Oh I know Vera okay, that bitch did not just torment my life throughout high school, she made me become a germaphobe
You might be wondering who Vera is, well let me tell you, Vera Collins aka evil witch aka my tormentor, where should I begin, right I still remember that night, I was seven and never had friends, I only ever played with Derek, he was my best friend, we did everything together not until a new neighbour moved into the neighbourhood, we got so excited to check out who just moved in, we walked closer when we heard an older woman telling someone to get her toys and come in, yep it no one other than Vera Collins, she look so cute, she smiled and waved at us with her missing teeth showing, she was so beautiful I had a crush on her immediately. We started hanging out, the three of us, we did everything to impress her like she was the only girl in town but she was very beautiful.
This made me and Derek grow apart when she played with him. When I wasn’t around I got jealous and vice versa. This faithful rainy day, she took me to her yard, it was muddy and my grandfather was watching over me and Derek for the night, but Derek was ill so I took this opportunity to get closer to Vera, her cousin where at her house, we all went playing and running around through the muddy ground.
Vera and her cousins kept whispering among themselves, I didn’t know what they were saying, Vera walked closer to me and smirked at me which made me scared, it was a different kind of smirk. Lucas can’t you see how dirty your hand is from playing with mud, you are infected. What no am not, my heart was beating rapidly I tried brushing it off but she kept yelling “Lucas has been infected” she pointed at me and everyone kept laughing.
I ran home crying, went to my bathroom, and started washing my hands. I looked at it and it looked dirty even when I had washed it five times. I couldn’t breathe, my grandpa tried to touch me but I didn’t allow him to, I kept screaming and shaking. After a long time, I calmed down and explained everything to my grandpa. He tried to comfort me, which I accepted, clinging on to him and not letting him go. When I went to bed alone that night I felt restless, everywhere in my room looked dirty, I cleaned and made sure it was spotless, grandpa must have heard the noise I was making, he told me to go back to bed, I tried I really did but I couldn’t, I cling to him that night.
