Chapitre 1
Standing in front of this enterprise, Isabelle felt shivers run through her whole body, she suddenly felt cold and felt an urge to turn around and go home, but she was forced to seize her courage and enter this skyscraper. Two years earlier, she would never have imagined setting foot there given what had happened but there, she was obliged to ensure her survival and that of her baby.
She had asked Father Maurice to find her a job, but no company was ready to recruit her on the spot and she had no choice but to go to the great Emsig Deleu, the man who once did not give her back. point indifferent.
It hurt so much to see this dominant evil again after so long, she just hoped that the thought that everything was already buried inside her would be true when she was now in front of him. She would have given everything not to set foot in this place, but Father Maurice's words still came back to her.
"But Isabelle darling, you are no longer alone to live from day to day, think of Capucine, she is a child and you know very well that the disease does not prevent you, you need this job and what what makes you think Emsig didn't get married after two years? Just think about your daughter, you have to work". She could have swept away these words with the wave of her hand in the wind but no, she now had a child under her responsibility and she was alone, so she had no room for error.
She eventually convinced herself it was for a good cause and checked her tailor. After taking a deep breath, she entered the building and nothing had changed even after two years she noticed. She still saw a few faces that were familiar to her and like a sudden little flash, a tiny part of the story still came back to her mind. She couldn't help thinking that maybe it was still time for her to run away, but to go where? Definitely this man had won again.
She took the elevator and at times, she would like it never to reach this selected floor even if it breaks down. The more the seconds passed, the more she felt this ball forming in the depths of her being. She had believed that with what she had been through for the past two years, she had become a woman capable of mastering everything, but no, her situation at the time showed her that she had it all wrong and that this man was still her weakness this even without having seen him, she was already panicking.
Only the click of the elevator announcing that she had arrived at her destination brought her out of her thoughts. She hurried out before he took her back to her place of departure. Knowing the place perfectly well, she didn't need any help to get to this massive black wood which until then hadn't changed either.
The door being ajar, she didn't know whether to knock again or come in all of a sudden, she remained planted in front of the hesitant door when Emsig's deep voice echoed from inside.
"No need to go to all that trouble." She had heard.
Despite this sentence pronounced with a semblance of calm, the sharp anger of this man did not go unnoticed. Terrified at the idea of meeting Emsig from that night, she still hesitated on what she wanted because seeing this man looking at her with hatred was the most destabilizing thing of her entire life. Despite all these feelings that kept creating doubt in her, she ended up entering under deaf footsteps with her head lowered.
"Welcome to Global Group".
What to answer after such a dry sentence with no follow-up? Even lifting her head was even harder and she kept it down. It was a moment of silence that followed, a moment during which she heard this man huff, no doubt in exasperation.
"Are you going to keep your head down all day or are you going to raise it and tell me why you came."
Slowly, she raised her head and as she hadn't expected, her eyes locked on the man's. For a moment, she could read that feeling… No, she couldn't believe, he was looking at her with that look from a few years ago, something she couldn't believe. When she closed her eyes for a moment to understand, that's when she didn't understand anything when she opened them. His gaze had become so hard and his pupils reflected hatred. Chills ran through her whole body, she couldn't take it anymore to see this man continue to hold her guilty after what had happened. Tears welled up in her eyes and she instinctively lowered her head to avoid showing her weakness.
How to react after so long, she was there in front of him after all this time. He couldn't deny this feeling that still inhabited him despite his many struggles to forget her, she had become even more beautiful and plump, which made her even more physically perfect, he wanted to draw her into his arms and hug so tight for all this time away from each other but he never forgot what she had done to him. A woman to whom he had given everything, love, attention, affection, material but, obviously, she seemed not to be satisfied.
He had made the mistake a few days earlier, after his desire to look at her fondly, but when images of that night came back to him, he could only feel disgust towards her. He was condemned to have to see her every day after the pleas of Father Maurice but without him, he would never have granted her this position.
She was there, in front of him with her head lowered and he knew very well that she was on the verge of crying but that didn't matter to him. He didn't like to see her so weak but there at the moment, he didn't care. With a quick movement, he walked around his desk and went to grab her arm without any gentleness. A cry of pain couldn't help but escape from his soft lips which without denying it, Emsig was holding back very strongly not to capture them with his own.
- The... Father Maurice...
- yes to plead for your little person who, according to him, remains harmless. Ah women, you will never cease to amaze me. I never would have imagined that you still had an ounce of courage to show up here but there, I was wrong. You are there my little fairy, you are there, in front of me, without any embarrassment after what you have done to me. Is there a better word than courage to qualify this? Yes I think, you have guts Isa,
I... I don't...
- you what? I hate you do you hear? I hate you like we've never hated anyone, you disgust me more than anything, do you know? No. I'll leave this post just for Father Maurice because I don't even understand how a woman like you still needs the job.
Unable to bear these accusations again, she decided to leave convinced that the fact of having ventured into this space was only a mistake. She knew very well that his reaction could not be other than the one he had had towards her. Even despite the passing Years, nothing had changed for the two of them. She still had feelings for him and he hated her even more. One thing she couldn't change.
Working her legs, she arrived very quickly in the hallway without failing to fall on a last person whom she would never have expected to see but fortunately the elevator was already open, she rushed into it patiently waiting for it to start. his descent.
Once on the ground floor, she didn't look where she was going, all she wanted was to escape forever from this place which would never be warmer than when she started working there. There was no distance between love and hate, she understood. It felt like a single word in disguise, and it just needed a third for the masks to fall off so the real face would show up.
