Audrey's P.O.V
Looking for a job during such a crucial time in my life has to be the worst thing that has ever happened to me.
Firing me because I spilled coffee all over their most esteemed customer? Oh please..not like I intentionally bathed her with the coffee. There and then, I was stripped of my job..the only means of livelihood for I and my kid bro.
The Lady in question adamantly insisted that I get fired and that was it. I was forced to turn in my apron and badge.
Well, to hell with their job, I'm going to look for the best Jobs out there.
That's not the only place I can work...
Exactly my thought, and it's two months now..and I haven't even succeeded in getting a single job.
Fortunately, I didn't have to bother about paying rent because David, my brother and I are living in our late parent's cottage just off town.
David was 16, still in highschool, and even though he was your typical annoying brother, he was all I had, and I loved him very much.
The semester was almost over, and I'd have to pay the next semester fees. He doesn't know I've lost my job, and I don't plan on telling him too. He might get worried and get a part time job, and I really want him to focus on his studies.
However, I don't know what to tell him when he eventually finds out.
I just hope I get lucky enough to get a job. A cleaning job would get me a better pay and also put food on our table. Yeah right?
Waking up early as usual, I head to his room only to find him still in bed.
"A*shole. I can't believe you're still in bed. Do you know what time it is?" I shook him hard.
He groaned and buried his face in the pillows.
"Go away."
I clicked my tongue.
"David Aderyn you leave this bed right now or... "
"Or what?" He glanced up at me, his similar hazel eyes studying me, silently challenging me.
"I... " I was short of word, but suddenly I smirk and folded my arms. "I'll strip right Infront of you."
I almost laughed on seeing the horror in his eyes, but I pursed my lips, Making sure I looked as serious as ever or he'd know I'm joking.
"Ew. Gross." I heard him scoff as he rushed towards the bathroom, and I finally let out a chuckle before leaving to groom.
After a bath, I picked out casual wear from my wardrobe. A simple white T-shirt over casual ripped blue jeans. I put my brown hair into a bun before grabbing my keys.
I met David eating Cheerios in the dining and I joined him, pouring a jar of milk into my bowl of cereal before digging a spoon in to eat.
"It's been a while I've seen you in your Dragon zest uniform. Aren't you working there anymore?" David asked, peering at me from the rim of his bowl as he drank the rest of his cereal
I choked on my food.
Dragon zest was the last place I worked in as a waitress. It was a cafe. I know he'd ask something like this, but I just couldn't accept the fact that it was so sudden.
I wiped my lips with the back of my hand, avoiding his eyes.
"I just feel more comfortable wearing my casual clothes."
I don't think he looked convinced.
"Okay... then can I come to your workplace after school so we could go home together."
"I'll pick you up after school." I snap at him before I resumed eating.
We ate quickly and set out together.
I walked miles looking for anything doing, but luck wasn't on my side I thought..I settled under a tree close to a polished fence and when I peered into the building, I saw people walking in and out, looking fantastic..so I decided to get in and try my luck, to see if there was any post available for me.
Seeing the Bentley continentals, BMWs, Ferraris and Lamborghinis parked right Infront of the skyscraper building with a beautiful architectural design, I hurriedly rushed in to admire more of this paradisal outlook.
On getting inside, I felt so out of place. Everything was so posh and expensive, people with nice fragrance went passed me, dressed like they were headed for an Oscars award, and I was like some kind of speck of dust in a clean room.
I tried talking to some people, trying to ask questions about who to meet and what to do, but people brushed past me like I was some disgusting fly. They pretended I was invisible.
Okay. Fine. Guess I'm on my own then.
I noticed some people getting into an elevator, and I decided to join them. As I made my way forward, my partially blind eyes missed a woman coming the other way.
Crash!!!
I glanced down in shock on feeling a wet, hot sensation on my clothes. Someone had spilled coffee on me. God, Why did I wear a white T-shirt today ?
"You bitch." I heard a feminine voice shriek at me and I glanced up to see a very gorgeous woman that left me stunned for a full minute.
She had this long, glossy black hair that grazed her hip bones and sparkling, fierce blue eyes that scrutinized me like I was an insect.
Her cheek bones were high and subtle, her nose was straight and pointed and she had seductive, pink rose lips that was curled up to a disapproving sneer as she glared at me.
At that's when I saw it.
Her summer gown was drenched with the coffee.
"Oh My God I'm so... " I tried to apologize but she cut me so rudely.
"Sorry?" She snapped at me. "I mean that's all you're going to offer. It's not like you can replace my gown. Do you know how much this gown worths? I doubt you'd know the value since you look like you're not accustomed to such things."
I heard Snickers around me, and I felt the eyes of every person on that floor, staring at me, boring holes into my skin like I was a criminal.
"I didn't see you. Please let me clean this." I pleaded, slowly dropping on my knees to pick the coffee cup, but she stepped on my hand and I yelped in pain.
"What are we going to do about my outfit." She asked in a murderous tone and I winced in pain as I felt her feet dig into my hand, pressing it against the ground.
"What's going on here?" An intimidating voice boomed from behind, and I felt a chill feeling run down my spine as I got up when the beautiful woman stepped away from my palm.
I naturally turn to the sound of the voice, feeling as though the air around me had changed, and I froze upon seeing who stood there.
