Hi, my name is Cowvy, a novice student of the Greatest Magical School in the Atlantis. Yes, you read it right, a magical school. Let me tell you something about my timeline and the world I currently live in.

Prior to the Great flood which will engulf our continent, we lived in the civilization and era of Atlantis. The continent of Atlantis is divided into 3 kingdoms, namely; Ur, Poseidon, and Atlantis Federation. Atlantis Federation is my country and where most of my story is centered. Atlantis is an advanced technological society. Electricity, Magnetism, Nuclear, and even Gravity is becoming obsolete term. Books and literature about it were wasted in the corner of most household's bookshelves.

Even though we are technologically advanced, the society we have doesn't evolve like what an ideal human society should. Traces of bullying, crime, poverty, lust for power, and discrimination is still rampant.

Magictricity, this is our science. Merlin, the greatest wizard and scientist of our time, revolutionized our era by discovering the science behind it. Soon, Academies were established in different cities of Atlantis. The greatest and most prominent of these academies is the Sage Academy of Atlantis. Founded by Merlin and his 12 peers, this academy accepts students of all walks of life. Royals or upper-class students are the majority which comprises 70% of the students' population, the remaining 30% combines the middle and lower class students.

The Academy holds secrets and history. The second generation of directors governing the school gave an impact on the current generation of school administrators. History tells that the 1st generation of directors has equal treatment towards students, regardless of their upbringing and origin. The 2nd generation, however, became power-drunk and started to politically control the academy for various goals. Some said that this is where the clash between royals and commoners originates. Until now, prejudice is creeping in the academy, much more it worsens.

I live in the city of Sol, a medium-sized city. Sage Academy of Atlantis is in the city of Aurum, my neighboring city. I'm currently living with my grandfather who still works as a craftsman. He told me that my parents left me during my younger years, in fact, I vaguely remember their faces. How ironic that even with our advanced technology, efforts of searching about my parents whereabouts are futile. But I'm still hoping one day for their return. I barely play with my friends, because i'm helping Grandpa in his job operation. He insist that i better enroll in the Magic Academy, concentrate on my study so i can have a brighter future.

Let me tell you about the academy. Those who graduated from the academy will be properly called Magicians or Mages. At 17 years old, you are allowed to enter the academy to hone your magic skills. 4 years will be spent in the academy.

There are 4 fundamental elements of nature, namely; earth, wind, water, and fire.

Mastery of these 4 elements will be taught within 4 years. In the 1st year, Manipulation of earth elements. In 2nd year the wind element, water element in 3rd, and Fire in the 4th year.

First year students were called Novices, 2nd Year were called Apprentices, 3rd Year were called Practitioners, and 4th were called experts.

Some graduates from the academy were far ahead of their contemporaries, you call them geniuses. These geniuses were given the title of Sorcerers after graduate. The term Wizards and Warlocks are titles befitting legends in the field of Magic. Merlin for example is a Wizard while Gideon is a Warlock. The Sage term is enigmatic. No one in my neighborhood, not even Grandpa knew about what that title holds.

We have a monetary currency, we call it a magic coin. You can purchase and trade using these. Magic coins are built with metal, crystal, and imbued magic. For a mage, the magic coin can be absorbed to increase his/her magic capacity, or for a knight mage, it can be used as a weapon. It can also be used as fuel. A myriad of applications can be attributed to magic coins.

There are different professions; craftsmen, masters

teachers

, knights, traders, etc. But one thing is absolute in this era , If you are a mage, they provide you with high compensation. Mages are esteemed wherever they are. They are free from estate taxes. Most Barons, Counts, Dukes and other royals are mages. These are the information i gathered up until now. If ever i'll passed as a Novice in the Academy, i might learn some more.

Granpa has someone acquaintance from school to back me up in the enrollment. I heard his name was Mage Williard. Grandpa coerced me to enter the academy even though the fee is enormous. It's understandable that some parents gamble their fortune just to give their sons and daughters a chance to enter the academy. Mage profession is indeed life-changing.

In the enrollment, each applicant was given an exam. The test comprises of 3 sets. The 1st set is the written exam, next is the measurement of one's magical flux, and the 3rd is the practical test. Magical flux is also known by the terms aura, chi, chakra, and a lot more. The Entrance Exam isn't held in the Academy, but instead in the Temple of Phaeton. Phaeton is the name of a town located in the City of Aurum. Temple of Phaeton is few blocks away from the academy.

One afternoon, an Academy representative came to give the application form for the admission of new Novices. It states that in a week, the entrance exam will be held in the Temple of Phaeton. Grandpa is super excited upon hearing this.

Days passed and the Entrance exam has arrived. My destination starts from the City of Sol to the City of Aurum. Every city in the Atlantis have teleportation terminals. The terminal is just a wide open space with different engraved circles in the flooring. Inside the circle, the person is going to stand still. The circle is filled by an engraved magical symbol waiting to be activated. Mage knights are responsible for the operation and security of these terminals. You will use some magic coins as fare upon using the terminal. I packed my stuff and traveled alone then soon reached the City of Aurum in seconds.

City of Aurum is a well known place for it is the center of commerce in the Atlantis Federation. I rolled my eyes to the establishments, marketplace structures and people i passed by. Also, i saw some people of my age walking . I assume they will be heading to the temple of Phaeton. As i reached my destination, a lot of examinees are already in line. The line leads to the entrance gate of the Temple of Phaeton. At the gate, 2 Mages are validating the application form of each applicants. Movements were slow but soon i managed to enter the gate. Inside The Temple is the courtyard. There are 10 artificial chambers being set up to accommodate applicants. Two of these chambers are no ordinary. You can already tell from its exterior that it is reserved for the nobility. Each Chamber can accommodate 30 applicants. All of these information were being explained by the Examiner Mage who's giving instruction in the middle of the courtyard. He's voice is reverberating throughout the courtyard. Hes amplifying his voice by magic.

There are 12 Mage Examiners in total and for the ordinary chambers, only 1 examiner mage per chamber is assigned. Two mage examiners were then allocated in the royal chamber.

" You may now go to your designated chambers to start the exam!" said by the head mage examiner.

Applicants starts moving into their respective chambers. For unknown reason, my head feel dizzy and i feel like a wanna puke.

All applicants are gone through their chambers. Courtyard silence now returns. Then 2 ladies started their conversation.

"How pathetic these applicants are Lunera, there is not even one with a strong magical flux!"

"Well then Janus, we have to thank them for their weaknesses. This Generation will be in our favor, the elite royals!"

"This time, we will be on top! Those commoners should know their place!"

The two ladies who are talking were wearing royal clothing. Accompanying them were 12 people who also wore royal clothes though not majestic as the leading two. They waited for the mob applicants to enter their chambers before they deactivated their cloaking. The dress their wearing were all magical items. It emits magnetic flux in a limited range but enough for weak people to feel dizzy. That is how powerful their magical dresses are.

The Entrance test is divided into three. The first is the written test. Second is the measurement of applicant's magnetic flux. And 3rd is practical test which is the application of applicant's magnetic flux

I passed the 1st and 2nd tests with non-impressive traits, almost on the brink of failure. The 3rd test is the most difficult. A practical test designed to express your magical flux.

In the wooden table lies a magical coin. You just need to apply some of your magical flux for it to glow. I made my 1st try, by placing your one hand near the coin, open palm, you should be able to direct the flow of your magical flux to reach the coin. Like how the lightning touches the ground or like pouring a glass filled with water into another empty glass. With fine concentration, anyone should be able to accomplish such a simple task. I did my second try, still didn't work out. We are given 3 tries for this test. Different manifestation of emotions start to creep on me. I mobilize my head to look back only to see faces of applicants in the line waiting for me to finish my turn. I start hearing murmurs from my back, a sign of impatience. Anxiety, fear, doubts, all lurks in me during that time. I placed my palm again near the coin, with trembling hands, I tried to concentrate more, few seconds passed, the coin emitted a very faint light. It is the weakest form of light the examiner has seen in his whole life and in the history of the academy. Followed by the faint glow in the coin, a strong unpleasant odor permeates the air. I farted!

Here I am outside my test room waiting for the result from the examiner. Still embarrassed by my action earlier, I try to calm myself. Not far from where I stand, I heard the clamor coming from one of the royal chambers. Few moments after the clamor, applicants from that chamber started to leave the area. It is my first time to see genuine royals, 14 of them slowly walk towards the entrance gate. The Entrance gate is near my test chamber. Each footsteps they made will make your body shake. Six ladies and eight gentlemen, their dress implies that they are from prominent and powerful families. They are wearing non ordinary clothes. The attire is magical armor and magical dress. It emits magical flux enough to instill fear in normal people like me. The magical pressure increases as they get closer.

“Are you okay? You look pale?” One of the royals asked me. I try to raise my head to make a fine remark but words aren't going out.

“Don't bother asking him Lunera, let's go!”

I tried to glimpse where that voice came from but the dizziness blurred my vision. My senses are not totally dull, so i heard them laughing and mocking me while walking away.

"He's too weak! If my magical pet is here, he might be my pet's lunch"

That's the last statement i heard from them.

Few moments passed before I regain my vision and senses.

“ So these are the so-called magical items”, I thought. "One day, i will be possessing more powerful items than theirs."
