"How I hate traffic. EDSA doesn't really cooperate anymore, when we're in a hurry then the traffic is slow." Adelle complained, one of my co -workers.

There was no other service available so we huddled in the back of the van we were riding in, there were loaded boxes in front so we just parked here. Vehicles are moving too slowly, what else is new? There is a lot of traffic in EDSA, especially at noon, when it's hot and the traffic is very slow.

I wiped my sweat and sighed heavily. "We're fifteen minutes late. We may not be able to reach those in-charges in the investigation of the shooting."

I grabbed my bag and other belongings and got out of the van.

"Hey Eryn where are you going?" The rest of our colleagues went downstairs as well while Adelle put out more sunblock and powder. "Wait! Am I haggard?"

Simultaneously we slapped her and pulled her out of the van. "Hurry up there and maybe we won't be able to catch anything in the scene!" People looked at us because we laughed and shouted in the middle of the road.

"Whatever!" Laughing, she came down and walked with us. "Is it still far?"

"Yes it's far away but I'm just about to beat you any minute now." I just laughed at their bullying, not really obvious reporters. We look even more childish.

We also walked quite a distance before arriving at a bookstore where a shootout had taken place earlier between police and suspected NPAs. The fallen motors and concrete barriers were scattered around the area.

We stopped in front of the said bookstore, not literally in front because we were across the street.

"Let's interview some civillians, the police haven't come out yet. That's them oh." We simultaneously narrowed our eyes at what Lorie, another workmate, had taught us. The bookstore counter, where some police talk to employees. "Look at that guy." She pointed to a policeman who turned his back, he looks familiar. I'm just not sure.

"You know?" Diane asked.

Lorie nodded.

"Oh, what's your issue with that cop? Are you kidding?" Brianna asked.

Diane nodded again. "No ah! He looks yummy."

We both turned around and left Diane who was now laughing alone. Of all the reporters, she was the only one who was boisterous.

"Why? Don't you feel it? It's just behind you, sis, what else can you do when you face it?" She laughed again even though the curious civillians next to her were already looking at us.

"Let's go." They followed me across to the bookstore while Diane was almost run over.

There is a barricade surrounding so that no civilians can enter the scene of the shooting. We were even blocked by the police but we were able to enter because of the press pass we were carrying.

We also interviewed a few people while waiting for the cops to come out talking inside.

I just smiled and nodded to those I was talking to because it was obvious that they didn't really see the incident but did an interview because they were just on a trip. While the four of me were still laughing at those they were interviewing.

"Eryn hurry up! They're coming out hurry up there!" Adelle shouted, not minding if she's catching attention or not. "Hey Diane, you're going to fight with Bri later! They're going out stupid!" I was just shaken.

I was in a hurry to ask when I heard Lorie calling me as well. "Thank you." I thanked the people I interviewed before joining them and blocking the supposedly exiting police.

In a hurry, my phone fell so I bent down to pick it up.

After checking my phone if there's a damage or crack, I immediately position beside Adelle who's asking a policeman who looks like in his mid-30's.

I blocked another policeman who apparently had no plans to interview. "Sir, what are the initial findings about the shooting that happened earlier? Did your comrades catch at least one of those you encountered? What can you say about this?" I asked a series of questions.

The policeman who stopped me just stared at me and did not even answer my questions. "Sir?"

He removed his sunglasses and blinked consecutively. I frowned because he still didn't speak.

He blinked a few more times before removing the mask he was wearing.

My eyes grew bigger as I stare at the man standing in front of me. I couldn't move from where I was standing and my earlier chatter disappeared suddenly. I can't utter any word, I can't even open my mouth.

No wonder why he's familiar.

Slowly my eyes dropped to the name plate affixed to his uniform.

Lt. Ferranco. That's what it states.

"E-eryn?" he called, shocked is written in his face.

No, not again.
