The sun shone in a bedroom filled with old pictures from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. All different kinds of decor from different eras. A blue eye opened on a freckle faced, redheaded teenager. Which suddenly closed and blinked quickly and repetively.

"You're going to be late for school!" A voice echoed from downstairs. The girl looked at her alarm clock, seeing it was 9:30 A.M which meant she was thirty minutes late.

**

You see, in the future people are lazier, therefore go to school later, and people have to practically rush to get things done. In this future, the world is much more chaotic than it ever had been, people were much more privileged, and therefore, being bratty or, whiney. While technology was the best it ever had been, people didn't have to do as much, and that meant personalities shifted, jobs shifted, fashion choices shifted, and even the climate shifted. **

"Ugh, mom, you could have waved pancakes in my face or something, not yelled at me at the most inconvenient time, literally so late that I'm going to miss English class!" She yelled, glaring at her mother as she grabbed her coat.

Her mother shook her head, "You better be grateful, if it weren't for me you would be missing all of your classe--" Her daughter slammed the door, not even acknowledging a word her mother was saying.

The cold air hit the girl straight in the face, her cheeks red. She rubbed her arms, trying to stay warm. "Gosh, I hate it here." She glared. As she walked past the Wisconsin State Capital, she noticed something up in the sky. A glowing, green in color, orb. She stopped walking just to stare at it. It gleamed, almost blinding her, and after studying it for a few seconds, she shrugged and continued walking. Her hair crazily waving in the air like a flag. "I'm so moving out of Wisconsin after I graduate" She signed then looked at at a little house, a shack, if you will. She saw a lanky, spiky haired guy standing on the front porch waving at her.

She knew exactly who he was and didn't want to even make eye contact any longer. She suddenly began to walk faster , looking only straight ahead of her. "Not him, not him, please tell me that was not him..."

She panickingly began to run, for she was only a block away from her school at this point. She saw her friend, Yvonne, so she called out for her and they both headed for the school together.

"Oh my gosh, you won't believe who I saw.." She panted. Yvonne handed her a waterbottle. "Want some?" The redhead put her hand up and shook it in response. "No, no, I'm fine, I don't want your germs in my mouth." Yvonne raised an eyebrow but ignored her remark. "So Chance..."

"CHANCIE!" The girl yelled, glaring at her friend.

"Oh I'm sorry.. Chancie...Who did you see?"

Chance shook her head, "that stupid boy, gosh what's his name..."

"Let me guess, Tommy Owens?"

Chance nodded, "ding ding ding, yep."

"Chancie, you really need to stop obsessing over people who have different beliefs than you, so he shoots up drugs occassionally, that's not your business."

A loud laugh came from Chance.

"He makes our school look bad, Yvonne. He has no right being here."

"If he gets an education from our school, and he is able to become somebody from going here, then you should be proud of our school for helping him."

"Whatever," she replied, "but he is not getting anywhere near me."

Both the girls headed inside the building, the young man whom they were talking about soon was inside the school as well, and everyone's heads turned to look at him.

He had bruises on his right arm, eye bags under his eyes, and looked very tired. Everyone made disgusted expressions at him.

"You're late Tommy, can you explain why?" The Principle asked, looking him up and down.

"He probably got so high he forgot he even had school today." A girl yelled, laughing.

He looked down, "um, I was busy doing chores for my father." Answered, rubbing his arm.

Chance and Yvonne stopped and looked at him, Chance shaking her head. "Can't believe scum like him exist."

Yvonne looked at her friend in disappointment as they headed to English class, Chance never once being questioned for why she was late.

"I still have zero clue as to why you're obsessed with him."

Chance looked up from her food at her friend.

"I'm not obsessed though?"

"If you're not obsessed, then why do you always talk about Tommy?"

Chance glared.

"Because he's weird."

Yvonne giggled. "Or maybe you just have a crush on him and won't admit it."

Chance kicked Yvonne's shin.

"OW, the heck?!"

"If you really think I think of him that way, then you are obviously not paying attention, now eat your turkey sandwich or I'm going to ignore you the rest of the day"

Yvonne glared at Chance as she pat her shoulder.
