Chapter One
My nervousness grew as the clock ticked by. My eyes kept darting on the watch on the wall that showed me passing time. My foot stomped in agitation and my stomach churned as I realised that there was no chance that I would enter the class in time. There was no use of entering the class without my bag on, anyway. What was the point of attending the class when I can not even take notes?
Which brings me back to my previous problem.
When will I get my coffee?
The line was still too long for my liking. I flicked the card in my hand around my finger to do something. To pretend that I can, at least control its movements. If I can't do the same with my own life.
I sighed in a low voice so that people around me couldn't feel my dejected self. Having nothing to do but wait until the people in front of me finished their orders in a turtle like manner, my mind started replaying the scene from the morning.
I remembered how I entered the school, realising that I had to go through the torture again. Yeah, to me this school is nothing more than a torture.
A pure mental torture.
*Flashback
I walked inside the school building. And just like any other day, I decided that the best place to spend my free time was in the library. Unfortunately, on my way to the library, I ran into the very people that I was trying to avoid.
Jackass Five.
The most popular group of bullies in the whole damn school. All popular among idiots, which seems to be everyone in the school, and teachers. They all were rich brat kids who were never punished for any misdeed or misbehaviour against the other kids. All five of them were very well known bullies in the whole school. It had three boys and two girls.
First, Felicia. She was the captain of the cheerleading squad. Long brown hair and light brown eyes. She was not curvy but had a figure as a model. Therefore, it was pretty obvious that more than half of the boys in the school had a crush on her.
Second Cole. He was a six foot something dude. His black hair and sharp jaw made him look quite a pleasant person which he was anything but. He was the main player of the school's basketball team and pretty popular among his basketball team squad. Many cheerleaders fawned over him. But he was taken by Felicia. He was very obsessed over Felicia. One reason that no one approached her.
Third, Alex. He was the rude brat that only chimes in a situation when someone tries to take a swipe on to their group. Otherwise, most of the time he minded his own business. He was also a health freak thus most of the time, he spent his time in the gym. Even though he was probably the same age as me. He rarely speaked. In fact, I never heard him speak. Well not directly to me, at least.
Fourth, Mia was a famous gossip girl. She was a small, yet curvy girl around five foot two with brown hairs and fat lips. With as many curves as she had, she attracted enough attention from the guys. One of the reasons why, the guys who dated her did not last long. She thrived on the thrill of spreading rumours about people. Whether they were true or not. It depended on her mood.
Then finally comes the fifth one, Marcus. He was The butthole of the group. He was a pervert and a playboy. He was naturally good looking. He had a strong build that made him more appealing. If he was not a guy, people would have called him a slut, but since he was a guy, he had the luxury to turn that slutiness into something great. Thus, a woman's man. I can not even remember the last time he talked to the girl he screwed. He likes booze, women and freedom, of never getting in trouble for his actions.
All in all a total jerk.
All of them consider themselves great and almighty. Like no one can touch a hair on their body or even be their shadow.
Completely invincible.
And, to my ultimate doom, that was true. No one can do anything to take them down. Solely because their parents have their backs. All their parents were rich and also held powerful positions in their own field. Therefore, they're kids are completely protected. And all of the jackass five knew it very well. It was the very reason they walked around like they owned the college and bullied students who were in vulnerable positions and couldn't fight back.
Like me.
I was the poor kid who dared to enter their kingdom on a scholarship. When I first entered this school I did not know about any of them. Nor how things work in this school but soon I learned.
On the very first day, I picked a fight against Felicia when I stupidly jumped in to save a poor girl who was being bullied by them. Felicia was spurting ketchup on a girl's hair while no one in the crowd, who had formed around to watch the scene in curiosity or in horror, came forward to help. I jumped in and told them to stop. What happened after that was nothing but a pure horror for my pity self. On that day, I had to walk around the whole school covered in chili sauce.
From that day on I had taken that girl's place and became the jackass five's ultimate target. And that was how the nightmare began.
Today in the morning when I had fallen in their way, all of them had brightened up at the sight of me. I remembered how the word "shit" had slipped out of my mouth as a curse. Marcus had smirked at my reaction before his eyes raked over my figure, taking its time to linger on my breasts and waist. He did not even bother hiding his intentions.
Felicia had whispered something in her boyfriend's ear and I knew that something bad was coming my way.
Cole looked at me and something sinister entered his eyes. He pointed a finger at me and beckoned me like an animal.
I did not say anything or move. I just stood there looking at them in the eye even when the fear creeped up in me.
Watching me not making a move, he strode towards me in big strides before pulling my bag out of my shoulders and throwing it on the ground, near Felicia's feet.
"What the hell are you doing?" I yelled at him. My voice had come out shocked and timid.
Then Felicia picked me in her hands and smirked at me.
"You want your bag back? Get us all coffee. Then you can have your bag back, she said. Sweat formed on my forehead and I swallowed hard before speaking.
"The class will start in a few minutes. I can't get you the coffee." I whispered back. In mere seconds Mia walked over to me before yanking my head back with my hair in her grip.
"You dared to deny us. Just wait what I will do to you." She hissed the words at me, making me tremble. Her grip was so tight that tears had burned my eyes. I could have fought her. Or I could at least shrug her off but the fear had me in its grip. They knew who I was. Who I was. Knew that by their mere saying I could be kicked out with my scholarship cancelled. Helplessness made me weak and I just let her do whatever she was doing. She threw me on the ground. My head hit the ground and I let out a painful yelp.
When I raised my head, a pair of bills were thrown at my face.
"Take the money and get us our coffee. Remember, all Cappuccino but one sugar free. Or, you know what is going to happen." She said. Clenching my eyes shut, I had swallowed hard, trying not to cry before I got up and picked up the bills. I swallowed my pride, my self respect and left to get their coffees.
*End of flashback
"Miss, you next." I jerked back into reality. I glanced up to see a young woman staring at me. Looking mildly annoyed.
"Ma'am, if you want to order a coffee then tell me otherwise you are holding my line. Please move." She said.
Move forward or out of the line? I took a step forward.
"Five cappuccino and one of them sugar free, please." The lady behind the counter gave me a distasteful look but prepared the coffee. After paying for the order, I ran back where I had last seen them.
With my arms filled with cups, I walked inside the hallway when I bumped into someone. All the cups that were in my arms fell out and the coffee spilled everywhere.
I looked up to find Damon looking down at me. He was my age yet he was around six foot two inches. With his ripped jeans, ear piercing and black hair, he looked like a street thug. Which he was.
"What the…" I started but was interrupted by his next words, "hell?" He said. I looked at him with a sneer on my face.
"I needed those drinks. Felicia had asked me to bring it to her." I complained. His next words shocked me more than anything.
"I know. That is why I did it." He said and shrugged nonchalantly. My eyes widened in shock and I did not understand why. If anyone in this school was the worst of those bullies then that was him.
"You did this on purpose?"
