Charlie Summers was what people would call a golden child. From when she was a baby, even her parents knew that she was going to grow up to be something special. She was bubbly, smart and had a smile that could bright up the whole world and when her mother started entering her into pageants, her smile stole the shows. She won pageant after pageant after pageant with special talents of contemporary dancing and singing; dance moves that were like watching a flower gliding in the wind and a voice like an angel.

After she racked up the tiaras, trophies and sashes, Charlie hung up her pageant shoes and shifted her attention to cheer leading. She was in junior high and after joining the team and dancing her way to being captain of the cheer leading squad, she led her squad to many competitions, local and international; competitions that they not only entered but won and put the small town of Longman on the map.

Not just good at cheer leading, Charlie was a good at academics as well. She wasn't the brightest in class but she was bright enough and she used that brightness to secure herself as one of the top five best performing students in the class.

She was admired by all; with big brown eyes and thick dark curly hair, Charlie was the epitome of what every boy wanted and what every girl wanted to be. She was kind, funny and down to earth; she only had two close friends, Hannah and Sara Jane, but she would talk to anyone and everyone like she had known them her whole life, that was just who she was and her fellow students just found themselves completely drawn to her.

On top of everything she was, Charlie was also a humanitarian. She aspired to become a doctor and so during school holidays she would volunteer at the local hospital and senior home to care for the patients and elderly respectively and learn as much as she could; a quality of hers that not only warmed her way into the hearts of the people she was taking care of but the family members of the people she was taking care of.

Charlie Summers was just beloved; she was a good girl and a great role model for the young girls that wanted to be just like her. She even had an article written in the newspaper about her and what a well rounded girl she was titled 'Charlie Summers, The Jewel of Longman'; an article that made the newspaper sell out for the very first time in Longman history and gave Charlie a star on the Longman diner wall of fame.

She attended Longman High School and was in her final grade doing her final term. And having being voted junior prom queen, Charlie was looking to make it two out of two and be crowned senior prom queen.

"Hello everyone? My name is Will and this is my documentary on Charlie Summers," Will said sitting behind the wheel of his car whilst holding out a video camera to his face, recording himself. "I haven't gotten an interview with her yet because Sara Jane keeps busting my balls about it and telling me that I am a loser nerd and that I should get lost but screw her I will get that interview even if it's the last thing I do. Right moving on, I do not yet have an interview with her but I do have my fellow students and today I am going to go around asking them questions about Charlie and find out what they really think about her. And of course if they're going to vote for her come prom night. Alright here we go," he then said and got out of his car, grabbed his bag from the back seat and began making his way to the school building. He walked in and started interviewing random students starting with two cheer leaders that were standing in their uniforms and talking by an open locker. "Hey gorgeous ladies."

"What do you want Will?" the first cheer leader asked.

"Gosh what is this for now?" the second one asked.

"This is for a documentary I'm doing on Charlie Summers and prom, I'm calling it Charlie Summers's prom. I'm hoping to send this to film school and this time be accepted. I sent the one I was doing before on how different methodologies of teaching can affect student performance and though they thought it was good another student did a subject similar to it and did it a lot better than me so they picked his and told me to do another one," Will answered. "They told me to center it on an interesting subject, something that stands out, and I honestly don't think anything stands out more in Longman than Charlie Summers so here I am."

"O.k."

"So would you like to be a part of it?"

"Sure," the first cheer leader answered.

"Great so tell me, what do you think of Charlie Summers?" Will asked.

"Capt. Charlie."

"Capt. Charlie," the second cheer leader said and they chuckled.

"Are you kidding? That's our girl and we love her."

"Absolutely. She’s funny, smart, a great dancer and just an all around awesome person."

"Do you guys hang out other than at practice?" he asked.

"Yes we do. I had a birthday party just last weekend and she showed up and brought me such a sweet present."

"What did she get you?"

"She got me this bracelet," the second cheer leader answered and showed it. "I've been wanting it for months now and finally I have it. I was so excited I kissed her all over her face."

"That was sweet of her."

"So sweet," the first cheer leader agreed.

"O.k. and come prom night, are you voting for her?"

"Absolutely, she so has my vote."

"And mine," the second cheer leader said.

"Charlie Summers for prom queen," they both said and chuckled as Will moved on to a punk couple.

"She is so beautiful. And you’d think just because she’s popular she’d be stuck up but you’d be so wrong, she is so nice," the punk girl said.

"And funny," the punk boy said.

"And she has a great laugh."

"She has the best laugh I have ever heard," the punk boy said and they chuckled.

"Oh absolutely. Charlie Summers is so going to be prom queen. I mean come on who else if not her," a nerdy boy said.

"She's so winning that crown. I mean we're not friends friends but we're cool. One time she told me that my dress was super cute, I was so happy I felt like I was floating," a hot girl standing in the hallway said and chuckled.

"Who am I voting for prom night? Definitely Charlie. If I could vote for her a thousand times I would," a nerdy boy in the science lab said. His name was Todd.

"Oh my gosh I love her. I said hi to her once and she said hi to me back," a nerdy girl sitting in the cafeteria said.

"She is so hot. If I didn't have a girlfriend I'd totally bang her," a jock sitting with his friends in the boy's locker room said and they all laughed.

"I have a girlfriend and I would still bang her," another jock said and they laughed on.

"So what do you like the most about her?" Will asked interviewing two other cheer leaders on the school pitch.

"Ugh I love her smile," one of the cheer leaders said.

"I love her hair. Big curly like that, gosh if I had hair like that, no one would tell me anything," the other one said and they chuckled.

"Ooh her eyes, definitely her eyes," a jock standing in the car park with his friends said.

"Boobs," the second one said.

"Yes." They gave each other a high five and they all laughed. "Perfectly sized boobs, I like that."

"O.k. calm down," Will said.

"I want to marry her," the third jock said.

"I want to marry her boobs," the first jock said and they all laughed.

"I don't like anything about her. I don't like her period now get that damn camera out of my face," Jean said standing in the hallway by her locker and shoved the camera back.

"Uh come on Jean easy on the equipment," Will said as she slammed her locker door shut and walked away.

"If you had a chance to ask out anyone to go with you to the prom who would it be?" Will asked another nerdy boy. He was standing in the boy's bathroom and his name was Grinder.

"Charlie duh," Grinder answered. "She is perfect in every way and if I could go with her it would be a dream come true."

"She is something isn't she?"

"She is everything."

"Hey there Evan," Will said walking up to him standing by his locker and he turned to him, his ocean blue eyes sparkling like diamonds. He had the boyish good looks of a teen heart throb, only those good looks were overshadowed by the thick frame glasses he wore on his face which instantly put him into the category of a nerd and made him practically invisible to the top social groups of the school.

"Hey man," Evan said.

"Prom's upon us, who are you going with?"

"I uh . . . I actually don't have a date."

"Haven't gotten to asking anyone yet or you have and she turned you down?" Will asked.

"I haven't gotten to asking anyone yet."

"Have anyone in mind?"

"Uh . . . Maybe," Evan answered and gave a faint smile.

"It's Charlie isn't it?"

"Yeah." They chuckled. "I know every guy in school is shooting their shot to be the one to go with her and I stand no chance at all but yeah if I could go with anyone . . . It would be her."

"You like her a bit don't you?" Will asked.

"I like her a little bit yeah," he responded and they chuckled.

"What do you like about her?"

"Oh gosh everything. She is the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. When she smiles, my whole world lights up and I feel like I could take on the whole world and win. Just looking at her fills me up with the sweetest emotion my heart has ever felt and hearing her voice makes me so nervous. There was this one time she stood behind me in the lunch line and just hearing her talk turned my insides to water; my heart started to race and when we reached the food and she was standing to my left, I looked at her and smiled and she smiled back and I felt like I was going to explode with joy. She was smiling at me. I was standing there thinking the moment couldn't get any better but it did. She said hi to me. And not just hi but hi Evan. She knew my name. Charlie Summers knows my name," Evan said and blushed.

"O.k. so we have spoken to the public of Longman High School and everyone is pretty much excited for the upcoming prom and of course to see Charlie Summers crowned senior prom queen. Everyone wants to go with her and yes you guessed it so would I, she is such a fox but of course she can only go with one person, who that person is still not known. Many have asked her but she has turned them down, is she waiting for a certain special someone to ask her? She may not have a boyfriend but has Charlie Summers had a crush on someone this whole time and is waiting to be asked by him to the prom? We'll just have to wait and see. Anyway moving on, we know what our peers think of her but what about the people on the streets of Longman, what do they think about the importance of prom in a young adults life and who do they think should be crowned queen," Will said back in his car with his video camera to his face and got out of his car; it was parked on the side of the road and walking down the street he began to interview random people. "Good afternoon miss," he then said walking down a grocery store aisle towards a woman doing her shopping.

"Oh hello there," the woman said.

"My name is Will, I go to Longman High School and I am making a documentary entitled Charlie Summers's prom."

"Oh o.k."

"Yes it's about all the fuss around prom and whether my subject, Charlie Summers, is going to be crowned prom queen or not," he said.

"She is precious. I guarantee you she is without a doubt going to take that crown."

"Oh gosh I loved my prom. Had fun for days," a bakery salesman said and chuckled. "I didn’t get the crown though but she just might. She’s a smart beautiful girl and with what she did putting Longman on the map with all those cheer leading competitions she and her squad won, that crown is as good as hers. I have a daughter and she completely looks up to her."

"That Charlie Summers is just the sweetest thing ever. She helped me once with my groceries and was just so kind about it. A heart like that I hope she wins," a woman taking a break from her jog through the park said.

"She's so nice. She always greets me with a smile," the mailman standing by the mailbox said.

"Charlie is a wonderful girl. She comes to volunteer here during her school holidays and so I know her quite well. She's kind of like my intern. She's great with the patients and so eager to learn. Beautiful and smart, that crown is absolutely hers," Dr. Gregger said sitting by the desk of his office.

"She certainly is a top contender for that crown. I mean she has all those other crowns so why not this one," one of the teachers of Longman High School said, sitting by the desk of her classroom.

"When I have a daughter I want her to be just like her," a woman about to get into her car said.

"Charlie is such a sweet kid. Every time her and her family come and eat here, she always leaves me a written compliment about my food on a piece of paper. Makes me feel good," a chef standing in his kitchen said.

"Ugh she is such a lovely child. I mean come on she's perfect who doesn't love her," a woman said sitting on a bench in the park.

"I know right. Everyone loves Charlie Summers," a policeman said.
