She walks in an unfamiliar place. New World for her. Before she transfers to a city, she has no idea where she is or where to go. This is her first time coming out from her town where she grew up. And now she’s about to go to college, her mother can’t afford her tuition and also her school needs. So she decided to accept the scholarship and to work at an early age for the better.
She immediately put down her hand in her pouch and get the phone to call the first number on her contacts. “…Mrs. Suarez, it’s me Dhana West. I’m now accepting your offer.”
Dhana feels nervous about hearing Mrs. Suarez's voice. “I’m glad you have made your decision. I’m going to fetch you now hija. Where are you?”
Dhana was speechless for a second, she put her phone in front of her mouth and put it back near her ear. “…Miss S. I’m already in the City. I don’t know where I am. I just arrived 15 minutes ago. I think I’m… lost.” Dhana releases a bitter laugh ‘cause of embarrassment.
“Tell me what you see around you hija.”
Dhana asked someone who passes her. “Miss S. I’ve asked around and they said that I’m near the River Rock Casino Resort.”
“I know where you are. I’ll go right away hija, stay where you are.”
After an hour of waiting. An elegant lady gets out of her car. She walks toward where Dhana was standing. “Is it you, Dhana west?” A lady asked in a confused tone, she can’t see Dhana’s face clearly because of the dim light. “I’m the owner of Suarez Restaurant.” She smiles genuinely.
Dhana was shocked for a second. Her mouth opened ready to say a word. “Y-yes Madam. I’m Dhana West. I’m delighted to accept your offer.” She bent down her head and smiled at her.
A big smile escaped on Miss Suarez’s face. “Don’t be so polite. Your mother is once my student too. ”
Dhana went inside Miss Suarez limo. They’ve talked about her life in the town and more. After a long drive, they’ve arrived in an apartment where Dhana will be living.
Miss Suares hand a paper to Dhana. “This is a contract you must sign. You’ll be working for me starting tomorrow. I’ve already talked to your mother about it.”
She accepted the contract and started to read what was written on it. “So… I’ll be working for you in 2 years Mrs. Suarez.” A smile escaped her face. “I’ll get a scholarship from you too. My family was blessed for meeting you, Mrs. Suarez. And so am I.” Dhana smiled at her and put her signature in the contract
She held Dhana’s shoulders. “That’s not a big deal hija. My daughter is your mother’s colleague. I know how decent your family is.” She exclaimed.
It’s been a week since the day Dhana transferred here. She had been working in the night, and then attend school every day.
Miss Suarez left a satisfied smile while looking at Dhana. “Dhana is working hard. She knows a lot about housework. She perseveres in studying. My decision is right to give her a good life.” Miss Suarez stated with her amiga.
Miss Suarez’s amiga replied. “She has a good body posture. Her height and body shape are alluring. If you focus on looking at her. She’ll be a good fashion model.” She chuckles as she compliments Dhana.
Miss Suarez gazed at her amiga in shock. “You sure see her beauty, aren’t you? I know you’re a good judge when it comes to outside appearances. You’re a good fashion model too when we are in teens hahaha” She stated and then laugh together with her amiga.
It’s already 10 o clock in the evening when Dhana finishes her work.
Dhana shrugged and a yawn escaped her mouth. “Ugh. I’m done now. It’s really tiring.” She said in a weary-looking face.
It’s 7 in the morning now. Dhana woke up and cook her food. She takes a bath and does her things as usual.
She brushed her hair in a dazed. “Mother must be eating now. I do really miss her.” Dhana picked up her things and run towards her school. It’s near so she doesn’t need transportation to bring her there.
After her school. She goes to work again as usual. She works in a restaurant as a hostess. Miss Suarez treats her well too. It’s a five-star restaurant so expect that there’s a lot of rich and famous customers eating there.
Later on, a handsome and beautiful old woman came to eat in Suarez Restaurant. “Kal, let’s order something fancy. It’s your first time eating here, aren’t you?” The old woman stated at her companion, looking for a menu in her hand.
The old woman hands him the menu. “Choose, choose. We only eat once together because you’re always busy. Let’s enjoy this day.” She stated actively.
Dhana was called by an old woman to take note of their order. “We will order this one, this one, this one, and this one. Don’t forget the Maple Matcha Tea Latté, it’s my grandson’s favorite when he was still a child.” The old woman chuckles.
He gazed at his grandma in an embarrassed look. “Grandma! Stop embarrassing me it’s your favorite, not mine.” He stated and then averted his look from her granny to Dhana.
Dhana chuckles and smiled at them genuinely. “Haha, okay, okay. We’ll prepare it right away. Ma’am, Sir.” Dhana commented and walked away from them.
In just a couple of minutes, their order was ready to serve. Dhana hands them their order with a smile.
“Dhana!” Mrs. Suarez asked for her in a Lil bit strong voice. “The garbage is full, the one I assigned to this job was absent today, so if it’s alright, can you throw the trash outside?” She stated in an apologetic tone.
Dhana smiled and accepted the bag of garbage from Mrs. Suarez. “It’s alright Madam. I’m glad to help.” She said and walked away.
When Dhana was done throwing the garbage. She saw the old woman walking towards the parking lot. But the son was not there. In a blink of an eye. A snatcher snatched the old woman’s bag. The old woman cried out for help. Dhana saw the whole thing. She runs to the snatcher without thinking. Not long, she caught up with the snatcher and kicked it. She called the police after that.
Dhana was full of bruises on her face and arm, but she’s holding the bag of an old woman. “Madam… your bag.” She stated running after her breathe. “Please… Please be careful next time.” She exclaimed and bent her body down, her two hands hold her knee and release a heavy breath.
Everyone in the restaurant saw what she did.
“Thank you hija. It was just a small amount of money inside the bag. But there is a lot of important things inside it. Name your price hija. How much do you want?”
Dhana was shock and a little disappointed in what the old woman said. “I don’t care about your money, Madam. I help you because that was the right thing to do. And you’re a customer of our restaurant. Just eating there and enjoying our food is a good compensation for me.” After what she said, Dhana left a big smile to them.
Her grandson looked at her for a long time. Can’t find a word to say. “… Thank you miss. I don’t know what to do if my grandma was accidentally hurt by a snatcher or the paper on her bag was lost. This is my card. My number and address are there. Call me if you need help.” He stated and handed his card to Dhana.
Dhana looked at him in a pathetic look. “You really love your granny huh… It’s no big deal, Sir. I’m glad I can help.” She exclaimed as she accepted the card.
Dhana was so weary after a long day of work. She gets the card in her pouch as she read what’s written on it. “… Kalvin Hilton huh…” the last thing she said before she fell asleep.
